trialzander
hi fellow trials-forumers i want a 24inch trials street bike and is stuck between two bikes around the £500 mark onza zoot vs ashton effect true that the onza is cheaper lookes better in my eyes but the ashton turns more heads as to be honest its an ASHTON im in a right pickle
Mark W
Definitely the Zoot - better all-round bike, better spec, nicer frame. The Ashton's still an alright bike, but you could happily ride the Zoot for longer without needing to upgrade anything compared to the Ashton. isitafox
Saw one of the new Onzas today and I can say that it looked very very nice!
bikeperson45
On the Ashton you'll probably need to change the bars and gearing. Zoot comes much better, no need to upgrade anything for a beginner. And they ride pretty nicely too
Little Yoshi
Ridding(sp) both the Zoot anf the Effect I would take the Zoot anyday. Just feel its a nicer riding bike.
SumoSam
Hi, I've owned an Ashton/DB effect since they first came out. I personally really like it, but only after changing some parts. The standard bars are about 25-26" wide and the steerer tube is short so i bought a riser stem. Also the gearing is 22-13, so pretty hard. I went to a 14t and prefer it. So after changing bars, stem and rear sprocket, i love it. Sam
iridebikes500
ha, so after changing all those parts, he loved it. I loved my new Zoot as soon as I stepped on it, not that I can compare it to anything as its my first trials bike.
Miles Mallinson
As much as i love my Effect I still wish I'd of gone for the Zoot frameset, as i built the Effect up its alot different to the standard bike but it has its niggles like derailleur hangers, rear disc brake tabs and quite thin paint so it chips really easily, go for the Zoot!
