N.Wood
So I wanna get the axle out of my MG1 pedals, so I can swap the ti axle with a steel one. Any ideas what size the nut is? 8mm seems too small and 9mm too big? Tarty people I'm looking in your general direction. Cheers then. Ali C
8.5mm Narr, I seem to remember it being 8mm
Ben John - Hynes
Is it rounded or damaged maybe?
N.Wood
Nah its all good, never been touched before. Weird though, was in Halfords earlier looking for one and nothing would fit spent about half hour with Halfords matey opening packs of deep socket sets and nothing worked. Have you tried imperal(sp) size's?
N.Wood
The one imperial size matey had didn't fit, so not really hence the question
Mark W
I've managed to loosen and tighten one of those nuts just using a flat-head screwdriver before, but... well... that says more about me than anything else.
N.Wood
Might just jam my knob in there and see what happens.
forteh
Tried an 11/32 socket? You might need to grind down the outer diameter to fit inside the pedal body though. Ive also used marks flat blade screwdriver bodge before now but its hard to get any proper torque on it.

JackMeek
8.5mm Narr, I seem to remember it being 8mm Im with ali. defo a 8mm on the mg1. Bizarre that your having this problem. Its a tight fit for some socket heads. Have you checked the depth of the socket to insertion?
haydon_peter
I seem to remember it being 8mm too. Also the left hand pedal (I think, or was it the right? Well one of them!) is opposite thread on the axle nut. I was lucky and have this crap mini tool kit that has a tiny socket set that attach to a screw driver, the socket fitted perfectly through the pedal body, it just required ghetto use of an adjustable spanner to turn the screwdriver with enough torque. If your knob jamming technique doesn't work and you can't find an alternative method let me know and I can post my bodged tool down to you as long as you promise to post it back.
