Blake
Hello all, I was talking to my friend today about brakes and he mentioned that disks can easily break. He went on and said that if you mess up a side hop and tap the disk it can break and then you have to pay £20 for a new one. I had never even considered this and wondered if it was true or not. Cheers, George
Jamie_Trials
Noo it'l be fine as long as you get a decent disk brake rotor. A few years back I had rear disk and used to land on loads of times, most that happened was that it just got a little bent. Little play with an adjustable spanner and you can easily bend them back EDIT: I just got you validated Edited October 11, 2010 by Jamie_Trials
bikeperson45
I had a big knock on mine a while about (just being stupid, wasn't looking where I was going and front wheel fell off a ledge) and I expected I'd need a new one. However it was fine, don't be put off by having one. I'd say the benefit of having a disc is worth it

Jason Maarsseveen
Im sidehopping to left and hit my discs a couple of times , it bends not very easilly and there is no maintenance for disc, for rimbrakes there's a lot of maintenence , you must keepyour brakesystem clean , grinding your rims , and your rims are getting ugly from it , and your rims are getting faster damaged. The grinding makes your rims thinner thinner thineer , and you have to grind your rims weekly And a cracked disc costs 30 a rim 50 to 60 I hope that you've enough information now Edited October 18, 2010 by Jason Maarsseveen

Learn something new everyday :king:
