Spoke Patterns

hi all,

well will be building my wheel up in the week and was wondering what pattern to go for on a 32 hole, the 3 cross one? i like the pattern of this wheel below and looks very simple well basically will lacing it like that make it any weaker? is there any draw backs from doing that pattern? will this pattern be possible with a 32 hole hub and rim? oh and its for a rear.

Bizarely I read a book by that german (or whatever) dude Gerhart Scheaner or whatever his name is and he suggested this pattern for trials bikes.

our trials? time trials perhaps... i can see it being mad stiff which is probably handy for the mad amounts of torque that those guys can dish out, but the twisted spokes must loose alot of strength if your slamming them in gaps and stuff, besides you need longer spokes cause they don't travel in a straight line to the rim they have to twist round eachother, no weight saved there...
