rab shropshire
Good evening ladies and gents Right decided to give my maggy a fresh bleed, I have performed countless bleeds on a number of bikes and have never came accross this problem. Basically when I done my fresh bleed the slaves barely move at all when I pull the lever. I bled with a syringe and water I also tried a bucket about 5 times as i thought there must be air in there some where. i am using a 100ml syringe and when you push a full syringe through no air bubble are escaping. What could my problem be?

dannytrialskid
Mine do this! My brake still works amazing, but I have to make sure they are real close the rim and I bled mine 5 times through and the syringe was very pressured and after tightening everything back up the lever still goes to the handle bar, but I twist TPA a bit and it's fine for a little while. My mate said try a bath bleed instead, so I'm going to do that tonight and see if that solves the problem.

It could be because the water and oil dont mix. This happened to me i flushed it out like 10 times but there is still some oil in the brake. rab shropshire
i'll let the oil and water settle overnight and give it another flush out tommorrow, its just really strange. i had an epic brake and i fear i may have f**ked it
chris4stars
It could be that there is air in the lever cylinder section...can sometimes get trapped and requires you (or someone else) to compress the lever a few times (whilst lever body is pointed down so youd be pulling the lever vertically upwards) whilst you push/pull water through the system I cant remember where exactly the hole is, but ive been caught out by this before. when youre almost certain its properly bled, pull the lever rapidly as youre pulling water through to see if any extra bubbles come out...if they do, just repeat i find personally that whilst doing a bath bleed, repeatedly pushing and pulling the water through can dislodge any air pockets...just keep the syringe on the lever and make sure the hose at the slave is submerged Edited October 8, 2010 by chris4stars
