N.Wood
I have had a thought! Scrap the "5 vote" problem and have a 10 question multiple choice quiz on trials and bikes. I will donate the first one. What does DCD stand for? If you know the answer help the cause and put the next question! Joking aside, we have no problem with people who know nothing about trials or bikes in general. We're not out to exclude everyone who doesn't know the difference in durometer between a super tacky tyre and a Maxxpro.

JD™
Clearly you have not read my previous posts as I have already said I'm not too fussed about being validated or not as I get all I want out of this forum as a pre-member. I am simply pointing out several downfalls in the validation theory in that it does not eliminate scamming, spamming or text talk, which is what it is in place to do. I said the starter of the topic. I said nothing about you. 'Pushbikerider13' should maybe consider a new account and start afresh. You wont have lost anything except a fantastic username, and yet you can gain a few votes with what you've learnt.
monkeyseemonkeydo
People who put effort into their posts and don't type like a retard are also statistically 89% more likely to put effort into going to the post office ontime and sending that star fangled nut you've been waiting for. Humorous and random as that is, I'd actually say it's actually not far from the truth. In my mind, anyone who types like a retard may not even understand the concept of the 'post office' an I would never buy anything off someone who types like they have the IQ of a PE teacher. Mark W
Oh, and another thing - with how the validation system worked before, if the OP's "idea" was accurate it'd mean that for anyone in the UK to be able to ride trials, they'd have to know either me, Chris, Kris, Dave, Andy, Tom, Rich, Jon, Tom or Danny. Kieran Morrison
The validation system works well with keeping spammers/scammers out of the forum, but one thing that annoys me and possibly most other people is : its a forum, not school, it shouldnt be like "oooh you spelt a word wrong, reported". Its about trials. Its about what we do, our hobby etc., its like school, too many rules. Though some rules are compulsory like no spam etc. Kieran. Mark W
it shouldnt be like "oooh you spelt a word wrong, reported" Probably a good thing it isn't, then? Equally, the rules aren't strictly enforced which is pretty handy for, say, people with two accounts who should theoretically get banned but don't? Like who? *hopes his second account is as deleted as he thought* Just as a side thought to those people who bitch about some members here (including me, massively) talking about writing properly. I, and many people on this forum, come here even though we ride infequently at best. Why? Because it's one of the few places on the internet you can come and have a structured conversation or debate without having to run it through Google Internet Translate first. It's nice to be able to read and write in proper English - no-one should deny that!
Kieran Morrison
Yeah JD i get where your coming from. I should t really be banned but thats my opinion im not exactly gonna say ban me. The forum is good but for god sake most people debate and moan about trials rather than ride it. We are on here to learn about trials and create rides and things like that. Nobody should be made fun of, picked on etc we hould all just get along. People will want to start trials and come on here and change there mind because they are seeing what sort of people ride it, and we want the sport we do to be advertised as good so we can get more riders. I got my words and opinions mixed up in the last post. The rules are good. And yeah i know i get a few posts wrong but instead of going 'aha you retard your all wrong someone just ban him' you could maybe correct me( and other members who get stuff wrong) and help us out. Ive made a name for myself on here but not a good one, i have had abuse, hate clubs etc. And some just made me want to come off the forum then when my bike broke i wouldnt know what to to and end up quitting trials. I am alot less annoying and different in real life than i am on here as i dont see where i went wrong on this account. I hope you know what i mean. Jamie_Trials
I don't think you have to be in a forum to trials You're validated anyway.
JD™
Kieran (I'm on my phone so can't be arsed to go back a page to quote you), you mentioned about wanting to advertise the sport well so we can get new riders... I definitely see where you're coming from because I was thinking the same at 13. But I (and I'd be surprised if I was the only one) don't honestly care how many new riders come along or what they think of previous riders. I ride/rode for me, not for however many people are here or riding trials. I have never once released a video in the 10 years I've been riding because I honestly don't care what people think of my style. Haven't even been on a group ride for about 5 years! What I'm trying to get across is that not everyone wants this sport to become massive as that just means the chances of new people being complete twats just gets higher. We've already seen that in the past couple of years, and you'll start noticing it the longer you're here too. Not digging you out or anything, just explaining. Oldskooltrials
I personally don't want trials to get massive, it may sound selfish but i like being one of very few people who ride where i live. This is mainly because i'm a bit rubbish and don't want to be shown up but also i like the attention you get from having a skill/s that very few people have. I don't think its ever going to get much bigger than it already is now, it seemed bigger to me back when i started in 97/98, Martyn Ashton was all over the cover of MBUK every other month and the bike show's were pretty much dominated by trials. I think the time and effort needed to get good at trials puts a lot of people off, also the cost as it isn't cheap is it? I think it's a bit of a posh sport really, kind of like motor racing? I bet there aren't many kids from council estates that ride trials, unless they've stolen someone's bike that is ? What i would like to see is a channel 4 documentary about trials, the parkour boy's have had one, where's ours?

I disagree with the first part of that, I still feel that Trials is no where as big as it should be and if im honest it is almost a little secular. Besides, its a showman sport. I love the thrill of practising in a town centre with people walking past, it gives you that buzz when you do even the simple stuff. Channel 4 should definately get involved though! Also, i have found that some (and a real emphasis on that) trials riders are almost too trials focused making it almost a little separate club. Distancing it from other types of riders and riding types. Just an opinion.
Mark W
Besides, its a showman sport. I love the thrill of practising in a town centre with people walking past, it gives you that buzz when you do even the simple stuff. Not for me - pretty much hate being watched unless it's on my own terms (i.e. in video form). Fact of the matter is is that trials bikes are too specialist, so they're never going to be particularly popular for the mainstream bike-riding audience. With almost any other type of bike you can commute, ride around on and just generally use as a means of transport as well as something to have fun on. Hence why BMXs and MTBs are popular in that they can be used for a wider range of things. You can obviously still use a trials bike to ride distance and so on, but it's nowhere near as convenient/good as using a more conventional style bike. I am in two minds about trials getting bigger, there's pros and cons either way. Riding felt more 'special' when nobody did it but then it's nice to watch your sport grow from a young age.
