forteh
Got bitten by my western hognose at 17:30 this afternoon, hes only a few months old so not very big at all. Got him out to check him over and he must have been hungry, felt a sharp stabbing pain at the base of the little finger on my left hand and he had latched on. Felt the fangs go in several times, I wasnt counting but I guess 15-20 times over 5-10 minutes would be about right. Managed to release him with the help of a credit card and my hand immediately started to itch and tingle like the whole of the hand had been stung by nettles. Its been almost 2 hours now and my left hand is really swollen, my right hand is 7.5" circumference, my left is currently 9.25"! Hard to get a decent photo of the swelling, I cant close my left hand at all now though Completely off topic but thought someone might appreciate some photos of a baby snake chewing on my hand

Revolver
Fool, no-one asked you. I mean disarming the snake, rather than curing the hand.

forteh
He got the callous with the lower teeth, unfortunately its the upper rear fangs that do the damage Hes only mildly venemous, not considered near dangerous enough to cause permanent damage, just mild pain and discomfort. Removing the venom glands from snakes is, imho, cruel and I would never entertain the thought, that said I dont have any dangerous venemous snakes! Hand is all swollen now and starting to swell around the wrist, not painfull just tender and I cant move the hand very well.

MikeCottTrials
I don't see the attraction of keeping a pet that would kill you if it could, and even though it can't... still tries
Mark W
Because you can take it for walks? Oh, wait... Because you can stroke them/"pet" them? Oh, wait... Because they display some signs of loyalty? Oh, wait... etc. If it ain't a cat, it ain't shit.
Greetings
Those pictures show comitment to the forum. Not as big as somebody posting a naked picture of themselves holding a small cardboard box but still, impressive.
Dan6061
Got to be the most chilled reaction to getting bitten by a snake? My corn snake bit me once, I just put her back in the vivarium straight away, no way did I think to grab my camera and show T-F! That's dedication. forteh
Hognoses dont bite like a normal snake, they lock on and chew, you cant really get them off without injuring the snake so I knew I had plenty of time to document the bite. When the boa bit me there was nothing to show but the blood aftermath, this was a prolonged experience so wanted to record it Unless I suffered anaphylactic shock there is no way a western hognose could have killed me, if I had I would have been onto the ambulance sharpish! He was just hungry and is daft enough to think he can swallow my hand whole Ive got a pair of cats along with the scalies, if I want to pet/fuss an animal then theyre always there, that said the boa constrictor gives great cuddles! dann2707
I once saw a guy walking two cats at the top of my drive, they were twins, the leads got tangled up together and the cats started fighting. Was hilarious. Cool story bro
forteh
The swelling has now reached about 2/3rds up the forearm, not expecting it to properly go down until 36 hours which would be 5am tomorrow morning
