Geek
Hello, I'm thinking about getting the bike up and running again. I think this will require a new bottom bracket, freewheel, frame, rear wheel and a rear brake. I haven't been around the trials 'scene' for a while so am unfamiliar what is regarded as good and bad parts. I currently have a Onza T-Pro 08. It's fine apart from the threads being pretty fooked and just generally want to upgrade, so I have been looking at the Onza Skull, though after asking a friend he said he had heard of them snapping. Has anybody got one of these frames, or does anyone know what they are like? Like I said, i'm also after a BB, freewheel, wheel and a rear brake. As for a rear brake, I'm going to go with a magura HS33 (obviously) but i am looking for advise on the BB/Freewheel and wheel. If anybody could help me, it would be much appreciated. Charlie They are known to snap in one particular spot if i'm correct. If you are gonna buy a frame that price, I'd reccomend the Limey320 or the speedrace fans (if thats in the price zone, i cant remember). Both extremly good frames. Or you could spend a little less and get an echo lite or zoo lynx 09. The skull looks sweet, but the reason i wouldnt reccomend it is the snappy happy business it has... Out of all the frames metioned I would say the Limey320 is the one to go for Everybody seems to like them. For a freewheel, go with an echo sl. I'm sure loads of people on here will agree that this is probably the best freewheel out there. For brakes obviously HS33 with some Heatsink yellow brake pads purchased from here For a BB, anything you want really. As far as I know nearly all BB's are good, depends if you are getting taper or ISIS. And make sure its the right length! Hope I helped mate, also you got a validation vote from me, good luck! Charlie Yer, I wouldn't get a skull, i've heard about them snapping pretty easily. Get an ice, it is what I have and I actually love it. For the freewheel get a trialtech 108, I have just got one and I love it, it is a great freewheel, has excellent engagement, and makes a nice sound aswell ! :L For the bottom bracket situation I can't really help you as I am quite new to trials and don't know alot about bottom brackets. However alot of my friends have echo square taper ones and they seem pretty good. Hope this helps, Ellis . isitafox
Agree with the above, don't buy a skull, do buy a SL FFW and as for bottom bracket if your running ISIS I'd get either an Echo TR or Tryall.
Kenny--Trials
Frame -- Zoo lynx 09, Speedrace fans or Onza comp. The problem with the fans is that i doesn't have bash mounts. Freewheel -- SL, TR or Trialtech 108 BB -- Trialtech lite Edited September 22, 2010 by Kenny--Trials

For one thing Disc is way better on a mod and for another Vees are better than maggies, so no it isn't obvious really. Use your head and dont just follow fashion, maggies suck, they are not up to the job, do yourself a favor and open your eyes to other possibilities. EDIT: And dont buy yourself a skull frame they are crack happy I can tell u that from personal experience. Azarathal
I had a 2006 echo lite and if the current frames are built to the same standard i'd say its nearly indestructable.

I really don't know. I like the look of the SpeedRace, but it's £400! I may go for an Onza ICE? Thoughts? About the brakes, it is a possibility that I could go for a Vee setup, but I'm unsure... I'd like to try one on the front first. Especially with rear mounted brake mounts Be sharpish guys, I'm going to order today before 12 so I can get it next day. (Loving the 'new' trials forum aswell guys. Looks very Web 3.0 ) Edited September 24, 2010 by Geek
Geek
To add to that, what are everybody's views on the 2011 HS33? I think it looks awesome and I like the fact that you can take it off without removing your grips, but am unsure of the performance of the brake, I doubt anybody has any experience with these brakes as they are so new.. I would go for a Vee setup but it just seems to complex.

I have an ice and a trialtech 108, I love it ! I hope you enjoy riding those parts and are happy about your decision ! Good good! I'm glad you like your setup, I know trial tech have a good name and it was reasonably priced compared to the other freewheels so I decided to get it. I will update you with how it goes. The only thing I'm doubting is the color of my wheels and the color of the frame, I have red Echo wheels (the ones before they were called urbans). Worst case scenario, it's nothing a bit of paint can't fix.
