Laurence--Trials
A few days ago i posted the last few magura material 'x' testing videos (Linked here) They've now brought out to what looks like the final video and the 'perfect' disc brake. Link to magura websight: Link. Edited September 8, 2010 by Laurence--Trials
Krisboats
It's a type of plastic, i'm pretty certain of it. And unfortunately that video showed nothing of the brakes performance, which is the most important factor. There is something about using plastic on my bike that doesn't really seem appealing in the slightest.
Laurence--Trials
Then go on the Topic i linked you to with the last 3 videos, the 12th (i think) with the red truck show you how it performs (kinda..)
isitafox
I love it how the magura website says To quickly and easily find the specific MAGURA product required, we've structured this catalogue by typical biker profiles And the profiles in question?? Trekking, enduro, all mountain, x-country and xc race. Yet again we go un-noticed

Thats not really though is it? All this machine testing and they don't have a rotary system to spin the disc within caliper and measure the stopping power given a specific force applied at the lever. I think they should do this too! would be interesting to see ach.
Matt Vandart
Plastic is a very underrated material in terms of performance however I also like shiny metal shit better.
Stefkeeee
I got magura Marta disc brakes and there great on the front but not so much on the back. Is this a common problem? OT: Magura disc brakes are really expensive so prolly would buy a hope.
Mark W
It isn't plastic (well, not really a plastic). There is something about using plastic on my bike that doesn't really seem appealing in the slightest. Would you think it was more appealing if you knew that it was a material that they'd developed themselves, primarily for that application, and that they're also some of the leaders in the world at creating that sort of composite material? Ross McArthur
...and how many levers crack?

It's a type of plastic based poly-product at least. That much is certain from the weight drop video and the way the material twanged back and forth like an elastic band. Not especially, i like metal over plastic any day, regardless of who made it.
Mark W
...and how many levers crack? If you mean of the current 2005-2010 levers, they're made of a different material with a different design, so I don't really understand how that matters...
