isitafox
Bought an echo modstock off here at the weekend and I'm just wondering what they ride like?? It's only my 2nd "proper" trials frame after a zenith (which I've convinced my cousin to buy off me) so was just wondering how they ride? I've had a look about but can't find the geo or weight of them so if anyone could advise me I'd be grateful, think it's an 06. On the zenith I was doing alright but there was something about it that didn't quite gel with me like my python does so I'm hoping I'll have a bit more luck this time round! Oh yeah, I have searched for info but me and the search function don't seem to get on very well!!
Ben John - Hynes
Did you buy it off tris? Is it a long or a short? The long ones ride really well. Not sure about the shorts as I've never ridden one.
isitafox
Aye thats the one, not sure really which it is! Was just in a spending mood really and fancied a change!

isitafox
Had a search on google for a pic and came up with the geo from trials wiki But still interested in how they ride?? isitafox
Wheelbase: Long 1085mm Chainstay Length: 377mm BB Rise: Long 15mm Head Angle: 72 degrees I've literally only ever ridden my heavy tools trials and have no idea of geo on that, a zenith and an 07 python so this means nothing to me in terms of how it'll ride! Matt Vandart
Whats the weight? Should be pretty cool, nice short back end for getting it up on the back wheel, bit long for I, but I am a shortass. The bb rise is not too high to make it a bitch on 2 wheels with that short back end. At the end of the day it may ride great for one person and cack for another, geo is a very personal thing. isitafox
Not sure on the weight but going off what the modern Control's are I'd stick my neck out and say around 1.8kg maybe?? It'll definately be lower than 2.2kg of Zona though! Yeah I suppose your right about the geo, I need to get out to a big ride sometime so I can get the feel of some other peoples bikes and see how they ride. Until then I'll just have to keep coming up with excuses for the wife about why I couldn't turn down such a bargain when something pops up!! Matthew_Gibson
I had a normal stock control, only short. and it was by far the best frame I have ever rode. shame its not for 4 cracks in. but its still ridable... I would love to have the money to build it back up.... one day though!!
eskimo
I have the short. Rode amazing. It's been sat in a box for maybe two years. Despite others saying they were Long Control lovers.
Flip-Mod
I have been riding a Echo Modstock (Long) for 10 months now. Apart from a bit outdated geometry and heavy, it couldn't be better. Rock solid BB yoke, chain-stays and the 4 bolt booster gives virtually no flex. Ride it until it snaps, which shouldn't be in the foreseeable future. Tom

Zenith is around the same weight as that...with more up to date geometry :| 2.1kgs ish I thinks
isitafox
Will just have to see how I get on with it then, don't know without trying! If it doesn't feel right I'll just look for summat else!
Matt Burrows
Compared to bikes everyone used to learn on that is an amazing frame! Its quite neutral geo and will be easy to control, certainly plenty good enough for your riding level. I thought the Zenith was short and had wierd geo? max-t
To be honest the Controls that I have owned were the best all round frames I have owned. (Including the long 'Modstock') - Super stiff and responsive - Strong as hell - Very rider friendly. In terms of the basic principles of trials (Hopping,Trackstanding,Back wheeling etc) - Nice looking - Very stiff rear brake that seems to work well, whatever setup you use (from my experiance) I could go on really. In fact I really want one again now as they're so fun to ride. You've definitely made a good choice anyway. Just out of interest, who did you pick it up from and how much? isitafox
This is an 06, thought the geo was 1085, 377, +15 and 72. Thats what it says on the trials wiki anyway so I could be wrong, will have a measure and confirm when it arrives today! And it's cost me £70 with a rear wheel.
