Echo Control Modstock

Bought an echo modstock off here at the weekend and I'm just wondering what they ride like??

It's only my 2nd "proper" trials frame after a zenith (which I've convinced my cousin to buy off me) so was just wondering how they ride?

I've had a look about but can't find the geo or weight of them so if anyone could advise me I'd be grateful, think it's an 06.

On the zenith I was doing alright but there was something about it that didn't quite gel with me like my python does so I'm hoping I'll have a bit more luck this time round!

Oh yeah, I have searched for info but me and the search function don't seem to get on very well!!

Wheelbase: Long 1085mm

Chainstay Length: 377mm

BB Rise: Long 15mm

Head Angle: 72 degrees

I've literally only ever ridden my heavy tools trials and have no idea of geo on that, a zenith and an 07 python so this means nothing to me in terms of how it'll ride!

Whats the weight?

Should be pretty cool, nice short back end for getting it up on the back wheel, bit long for I, but I am a shortass.

The bb rise is not too high to make it a bitch on 2 wheels with that short back end.

At the end of the day it may ride great for one person and cack for another, geo is a very personal thing.

Not sure on the weight but going off what the modern Control's are I'd stick my neck out and say around 1.8kg maybe?? It'll definately be lower than 2.2kg of Zona though!

Yeah I suppose your right about the geo, I need to get out to a big ride sometime so I can get the feel of some other peoples bikes and see how they ride.

Until then I'll just have to keep coming up with excuses for the wife about why I couldn't turn down such a bargain when something pops up!!

I have been riding a Echo Modstock (Long) for 10 months now. Apart from a bit outdated geometry and heavy, it couldn't be better.

Rock solid BB yoke, chain-stays and the 4 bolt booster gives virtually no flex.

Ride it until it snaps, which shouldn't be in the foreseeable future.

Outdated geo and heavy don't concern me, I'm coming from a zenith!! Do you know how much the frame weighs??

To be honest the Controls that I have owned were the best all round frames I have owned. (Including the long 'Modstock')

- Super stiff and responsive

- Strong as hell

- Very rider friendly. In terms of the basic principles of trials (Hopping,Trackstanding,Back wheeling etc)

- Nice looking

- Very stiff rear brake that seems to work well, whatever setup you use (from my experiance)

I could go on really. In fact I really want one again now as they're so fun to ride.

You've definitely made a good choice anyway. Just out of interest, who did you pick it up from and how much?

Did you buy it off tris? Is it a long or a short? The long ones ride really well. Not sure about the shorts as I've never ridden one.

Aye thats the one, not sure really which it is!

Was just in a spending mood really and fancied a change!

. I thought the Zenith was short and had wierd geo?

1070, +25, 375, 72 so identical to an 07 control.
