Mark W
A lower stem feels 'better' to some because basically, when you're on the back wheel it results in the rest of the bike being nearer you. Because you're more over the bike it means it's easier to backhop/balance on the back wheel. However, the downside to it is that it effectively makes it harder to lift the front wheel up. A lower stem is therefore good for people who spend most of their time either sidehopping or setting up for sidehops, but it makes it feel worse for natural stuff on 2 wheels or for rolling moves. If you spend most of your time on the back wheel then you may as well stick with a low stem, but if you have more variety in your riding then maybe try a higher stem.
Kieran@ZSClothing
depends on what bike your riding as well. I have preferred higher bars and stem with most my bikes.

Zoo!Man
And even though I haven't had any high stems, all the people I've seen with Rockmans like you, they all ride high stems; for example Alberto de Sevilla, he rides an Aurem and if I'm not wrong, he rides a monty hiiiiigh stem; his bike is pretty comfortable. So hope this helps you! Dale duro Gui! Edited September 5, 2010 by Zoo!Man
