I changed to high recently and the only difference i found was the front comes up much easier and it feels a touch heavier on the backwheel. Other than that i didn't really notice. As for the back thing.. i think every rider has had that, just take it easy for a while because if it goes badly it's a nightmare for a long time. Oh and low rise is probably worse for your back.
