Pauly
righty looking at getting a new set of cranks i have narrowed it down to these 2 trialtechs Try-All Expert ISIS ok so to me .. they basicly "look" the same but the thing i am struggleing with is the fact that the trialtechs are made out of 6061 which isnt as strong as the try-all 7075 now what i was wondering is would people say that 6061 be better as it would be less brittle and more likely to flex or would you say to go for the try all as it is a stronger material. many thanks Paul
Matt Burrows
I bought some of the Tryall cranks a few weeks ago. 7075 is definitely a better material to use for cranks, but is also more expensive. So I was a bit dubious as to whether they really were 7075. I was told they were and thought for £40 you can't really go wrong. Turns out its actually a lie, they are 6061 but Tryall have them stamped to say otherwise! So yeah, they are actually both the same cranks pretty much. The quality of the thread machining on mine is pretty poor though, Trialtechs may be better in that respect.
Mark W
Well, they may well be 7075 but it seems surprisingly cheap for them. I know we were all pretty undecided on whether they were or weren't, can't 100% remember what Adam said. I suppose you've got to trust the manufacturer in the end from a shop's point of view, so I suppose they probably are 7075. Either way, I think I'd probably save 50g, spend £10 more and have my money going to a rad UK company.
Krisboats
Is there a price limit?
Mark W
In what way? If you mean "What's the lowest price you could do a set of 7075 cranks for", I'd have thought more than a set of 6061s that are totally identical, and more than a set of 6061s that are slightly different. It's the same way that the Odyssey Hazard Lite is about £20-30 less than the Odyssey 7KA which is the same rim, but made out of 7000-series instead of 6000-series alloy. EDIT: And how our bars are £29 but Tensile bars, that are almost identical but made out of 7075 instead of 6061, are £35.

Mark W
Ah, cool - your post kinda followed on from mine a bit so I thought you might've meant what I was talking about. Never mind
