But this happens with all trials parts. all the new rockman stuff is identical to try-all parts. viz and trial tech forks ect.... im am quite disappointed as i thought speedrace had some very nice new products coming out and some are very original. Mr Bob
Its a shame for you its being copied but lots of parts are similar, i think it makes it worse since it is pritty much identical but if its not got a patent theres nothing you can do, they havn't done anything wrong in sense. i don't agree with it though, too much of a coincidence ! manuel
just think of it as flattery. Oh and you couldn't patent that if you had all the money in the world ....

Greetings
This is to be expected unfortunately. Still it's better than ZHI finding the factory that makes Echo parts and just putting a different label on them.
Krisboats
just think of it as flattery. Oh and you couldn't patent that if you had all the money in the world .... "I have made a half bashring with holes in to save weight though" Actually you could place an application for that to be a design patent. The specific shape, size and dimensions would then be taken into account and included in the patent. A design patent is different from a product patent in that it doesn't cover functionality and instead covers form. Design patents cover design, artwork, music and literature and even company logo designs and corporate I.D. Though they vary in title depending on what country you are in. 17 Infringement of copyright by copying (1)The copying of the work is an act restricted by the copyright in every description of copyright work; and references in this Part to copying and copies shall be construed as follows. (2)Copying in relation to a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work means reproducing the work in any material form. This includes storing the work in any medium by electronic means. (3)In relation to an artistic work copying includes the making of a copy in three dimensions of a two-dimensional work and the making of a copy in two dimensions of a three-dimensional work. (4)Copying in relation to a film, television broadcast or cable programme includes making a photograph of the whole or any substantial part of any image forming part of the film, broadcast or cable programme. (5)Copying in relation to the typographical arrangement of a published edition means making a facsimile copy of the arrangement. (6)Copying in relation to any description of work includes the making of copies which are transient or are incidental to some other use of the work. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1988/ukpga_19880048_en_2#pt1-ch2-pb1-l1g17 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_design_right http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_design_rights_in_the_European_Union Unfortunately to the O.P. the fact that no design patent was/is still not in place means that anybody can copy it really. Not morally right, but legally... it's fine.

I think that was my point, kinda - pretty sure this (unfortunate) guy is from Europe where it would be a registered design or similar - I think its only the pesky yanks that make any kind of association with a proper patent? Just made the topic starter come across as a bit naive. Either way - its a bashring, nobody is really going to care. If it weighed half as much and was twice as strong as anything else on the market, then yeah he could feel a bit crap about it, but machining some holes in a piece of aluminium in a pretty pattern ? Etienne
Hey; I'm Etienne Proust. I know that some brand are copying. Why I'm angry is because The boss of Speed Race disrespect all my work by saying that this is not a copy at all, he says it's a coincidence!! It was really easy to contact me by my website or anything...
Ash-Kennard
it could defo be a coincidence not like its an elaborate design, if i were to make one i would probably have done something similar. but with middleburn fittings as screw on is a load of wank
MadManMike
It's elaborate enough to be a HUGE coincidence. I reckon it's 100% been copied.
craigjames
So some Chinese factory has probably seen the design offered it in their generic parts catalogue and Speedrace have taken option to put their name on it. It's a cruel world, but where have you been selling your bash? As I haven't seen it come up on here or OTN before.
Kenny--Trials
If speedrace then copy-righted it, then i copyed it from you, would i be sued by speedrace??
