Ali C
Not sure about anyone else who has been to the glen, but I have always wondered what the old bits of metal in the rocks were for, I had always suspected some sort of climbing rope guides or something but the reality is that in the 1800s Shipley Glen was turned into the worlds first theme park! Video from 1912 Sorry it's not actually trials, but I thought it may interest some people
Mr Clayton
Ive always thought the same about the metal rings in the ground too! Good find Ali Ross
dann2707
Brilliant video. I always imagined it was some sort of "amusement" place with the trams at the top. Like a really really old theme park yeah. Ace!
Rusevelt
Interesting vintage footage Who knows maybe in 2012, someone will do a project video shoot of Shipley Glen in HD, using the very same camera angles and panning shots that they used all those years ago. dann2707
Half of the spots I recognised-ish. Others I didn't, but yeah like you said Rusevelt that'd be epic!
