trials owns
just had a brain wave to create a bad parts thread, what do you think? bought anything and is so bad or broken easily say here and say why, to advise other riders not to use/buy them. right lets start with a simple one, magura black pads due to not having good stopping power. sorry if this is a bad idea or its been done already. Ali C
not convinced this topic will work, there are quite a few variables like people buying the wrong part for the job (a light comp part used for street) or fitted incorrectly (brake pads setup at an angle) or people expecting too much from a product (using street tyres for natural and being suprised when they don't grip). I bought a £1 love heart bell from wilkinsons, and it broke on my first ride . Also any chain other than something heavy duty. e.g. kmc cool, kollapse etc. Otherwise it will snap at the wrong time, mostly lilkley when you put the most pressure on it e.g. big gap. and it will hurt. Mark W
I used to snap Kools pretty frequently. The only chain I didn't snap was the Collapse, but that thing was a turd anyway. Constantly forming stiff links somehow... Using something good like a 510HX or 610HX that isn't going to stretch loads, but then replacing it more frequently is usually a better bet. josh barker
09 echo tr front disc hub, bearings dont fit onto the axle (to loose) and dont fit securely in the hub shell. so it makes it feel like you have a really loose headset which is annoyoing, but i loctited them in now and its better

Mark W
Loctite 271 = win for that particular application. My TR bearings popped out of the hub if I dropped the wheel onto the axle end when it wasn't in my bike, but on my bike it wasn't really a problem. Happened with my new... I can't remember the name of the company that make it, but it's an MTB street company - anyway, it happens with my new hub too
modifiedridah2k9
Good idea this thread Em.... V!Z 72 Click freewheel. mine skips at least 10 times an hour, and i'm really not exagerating, had it for a year and constant skips. Actualy i remember it skipping the very first day... But far too many skips per day, just now i'd say about 40 skips a day :/ Thank god im getting an SL.

Otacon
Try-all rims, not this new fancy lark, the old style ones, don't hold grinds, nor could i EVER get any pads to work on a grind on a try-all rim, just generally a weak rim. 05 and upwards magura's, shit to bleed, lever crack, generally just die. 04' ***. Zoo/echo/adamant/gu/czar headsets, they just died, and creak like a bitch. Try-all tyres, just awful. No bounce, wear down fast, punny galore. Agree 05 and upwards magura's, shit to bleed, lever crack, generally just die. 04' ***. I fully agreed with that until I used an 05, and they feel mega when set up right, but yeah, the levers crack Zoo/echo/adamant/gu/czar headsets, they just died, and creak like a bitch. f**k knows, never used one Try-all tyres, just awful. No bounce, wear down fast, punny galore. Got to disagree, my rear tryall was stupidly bouncy, and not once did I ever pinch it. And now my front one is brill, too. It took about, I dunno, 6 days to get it on/off a rim though
p_ruskin
Try All rage bars 09, mine flex about 1-2cm down on each side, after 2 months use, my friends rage bars to it too, but his are basically brand new Try All Forxx cracked very quickly, a lot faster than any other forks i have used. Magura 05+ levers, been through 8 this year. Onza caged pedals, the outer cage cracks off then shortly after so does the inner cage.
