2 Course Meal Advice!

Dwarf Shortage

Recommended Posts

Hey, I know there's a fair few chefs/foodies/kitchen whizzes on here, so I humble myself before you, and ask of your advice sleep.gif

Basically, me and some friends are doing a Come Dine With Me type thing, and we're all going to each others houses, we each cook everyone a meal, and score each other's efforts out of ten.

So it pretty much is Come Dine With Me, but it's not being televised. Or recorded for that matter.

And before some smart alec comes in and lectures me on how gay it is. I know. I've gotten dragged into it all by my girlfriend, and need some ideas.

Right! I was going to do a stir fry, as I looooooooove stir fry, but I was thinking it might be too easy and that I could do something which takes more effort, as I can't be assed with them saying "Haha, as if you actually did a stir fry, it took you what, 10 minutes?"* So I want to do a chinese-themed meal, preferably a main course and a dessert, although I could do a starter and a main course, but desserts > starters any day of the week.

So if you've got chinese-y meals**, preferably with a dessert, lay 'em down son*** :D

*They can actually get pretty negative, I end up proving them wrong when they try to take the piss out of me, and it's gotten beyond playful banter, and sometimes they're pretty hell bent on proving me wrong. It may be my fault for being an enormous pedant at times, but still...

**Or even just ideas I could do to create a Chinese-y feel to the night, e.g. lanterns/decorations etc..

**Or daughter

Do Bronz' quasi-udon.

Dessert - white chocolate and ginger cheesecake.

:S

Starter - rice crackers :shifty:

I can cook, I do some decent stir fries, boast, I made a pretty good lamb one not long ago, but they're really easy so if you're looking for complicated, find a cookbook and try sweet and sour pork dumplings.

It does involve making a pan full of oil though, for frying, which is dangerous. Your call.

Also I suggested that dessert because you get it from Wagamama, and it is hands down epic, and cheesecake shouldn't be too hard.

I have no idea what you should do for a starter though.

I could just do a main and a dessert, I have to choose between doing dessert or starters so that doesn't matter.

Is there a recipe for Bronz's quasi-udon on here?

I have no idea what a quasi-udon is, and I can't cook for shit.

And Dan, I can't wait to get it over with haha, I hate cooking, but I've been forced into it by my girlfriend's mum.

And sack arguing with her.

Also, forgot to mention, it's my girlfriend and her twin sister*, and their Mum and Dad are insane foodies, won't eat anything out of a box, they make everything from scratch and her Dad's a chef etc...

Is that it? Sorry I thought sausage meet plat was hard to cook and seeing as it tastes nice too, I thought it was quite a nice main course, and the brownies and ice cream go together so nicely. Is there anything wrong about just giving some ideas? I mean what's so stupid about that I mean please tell me!
