Recommended Posts

hey,

so i have got smooth rims with onza citrus brake but i want to make my braking better short from a brake booster, rim tar etc, i have heard about putting a fizzy drink on it makes it better, is this true? what do u use like that?, because i want to make my braking better this weekend for riding.

so what would you suggest i can put on my rims that i can find cheap, locally or around the house?

cheers

I couldnt afford new brake pads at the time, so i had cheap LBS mtb v brake pads, and they sucked, so i tried monster, it worked a little better, but i didnt get much testing because i ripped my tire open, and it wouldnt stay on the rim bead, but, id say if you dont mind getting your rim a little sticky, go ahead and try it

You can use grapes (yes the fruit) witch i find the best, i've tryed sweets, evergy drinks, fizzy drinks etc etc over all grapes is best, let them dry and i had rockman greens and they turned into TNN LMG's (no joke) with grapes they had as good as (if not better) bite hold and they sounded exactly the same too.

Just use a light grind. With every pad I've tried, they've had better bite and hold on a grind compared to being used on a smooth rim.. And they work in the wet!

If you insist on keeping a smooth rim, use tar! All these fizzy drinks do is make your rim sticky, so the pads stick to it, but the drinks don't stay on your rim for long. Where as tar stays on for weeks, so you don't have to keep re applying it;)
