Want a new bike, not sure what to get yet, since I haven't tried hs33 nor hope discs

I've had v's

So what do you prefer?

Hope or hs33?

And if i get disc, it'll be front/rear hopes, i fi get hs33, it'll be bb7 up front, hs33 rear

Thanks!

on a mod, forgot to ad that

im most likely getting a zoo lynx dual hopes now, thanks for the help

Dont, i heard not too great things about double disks. And they are a pain, contaminate them = an extra £150 for new one.

Maggys are brilliant. Heatsink yellows maggy water bled, with bb7 up front is one of the best brake set ups you get, and you save ALOT.

double disks are fine, but be carefull not to land on them!!

they only get contaminated if you are a bellend and dont take the pads and wheel out when you bleed them!

double disks have good hold, but rear maggie has better bite on rear, and still has a great hold.

i would go for rear maggie, with either a hope or bb7 disk on the front (Y)

end of the day its personal preferance

Yeah i have had a tiny fail with a hope, something happened to it i cant remember what it was, but that was at my learning stages, where i bashed it too bits.

I have never bled one and I for one am not a bellend ;)

Yeah just with all the bad rumors about hopes, if i was you i would play it safe and go BB7 front and Magura HS33 rear.

a lot of people say not to ge them if you sidehop to the left, or if you arent a smooth rider and will bash the rotor, i used to be a not so smooth rider, bu im getting to be more and more smooth, plus i sidehop to the right

but honestly, ive heard that hopes can go as long as 2 years w/o a bleed, and dont have to change th pads for a while either, and i hate grinding my wheels! i hate it!

ill probly go with the hopes still

my hope is nearly 2 years old ( ive had it for a year ) and its still got the original pads in it!

ive only had to bleed it once so far

its had loads of use, and still as perfect as the day i got it.

you cant go wrong really, just make sure you know how to bleed it correctly!

hopes are good, it's hard to kill rotors, people bitch about products they can't/don't have i really liked dual disc, i used bb7s but i'd imagine hopes would be even better. be carefull with the rotors/pads, they can be a bit sensitive to contamination, but if you put rotors in the dishwasher on their own with no salt, and burn the pads, you can usually fix it ;)

You generally don't need to do more than that to them though. I have no idea how you used to have so many problems with your's - no-one else I know using them had to change pads/stuff as often as you! For the most part they're absolutely fine, which is why almost everyone with a DD mod uses them.

Regarding the "And they are a pain, contaminate them = an extra £150 for new one." quote - I don't really understand how. Every single part of a Hope from the circlip that holds the dust cover on your piston to the entire caliper itself is available as a spare, so if you break any part of a Hope at all you can replace it without needing to buy an entirely new brake. If you contaminate it you may need to buy a new rotor and pads, but that's about it. Not "an extra £150 for a new one".
