isitafox
Right I know what a mod is, and what a stock is, but what the hell is modstock? Some kind of 60's drugged up 20" bike festival??
Maladie
Modstocks are bikes with 26 inch wheels, but they have horizontal dropouts (like a mod). And the spacing between the dropouts is 116mm (so fits a mod hub). Edited August 5, 2010 by Horndean Trials

Muel
Modstocks are a bit shit IMO. You have a skinny hub, so a less stable wheel build, and a big rim, so a more flexible wheel, these add up to a very flappy wheel. There are 135mm hubs available now with much wider spaced flanges than normal, and 135mm horizontal frames, which is the best wheel/frame combo if you ask me. That was a lot of people's beef with modstock frames when they first came about, but it's still not true. Echo 20" fixed rear hub flange spacing at the time was 2-3mm WIDER than a 135mm King SS hub. That's not true my friend, apart from having to get a different hub these frames have little to no downsides. But why Deng had to make horizontal dropout stock bikes with a 116mm hub is beyond me.
isitafox
I was wondering as there's a few stock frames on ebay at the moment that I'm watching and most of them are modstocks.
Matt Burrows
I love mine, I wish every stock was 116 as I think it's just better all round. Unfortunately not many people took it up and they seem to have died a death now. Flappy wheel
