Hey

I have just bought some Echo Urban forks and want to fit them to my Monty 219 Alp which has monty forks.

I would appreciate it if you could explain to me step by step how to remove old forks and fit new ones, or direct me to a good clear website.

Thanks. (Y)

First, measure the length of the steerer tube and cut accordingly to the length you need.

then,

1) Remove brake from old forks

2)Remove front wheel

3) Unscrew your top cap bolt and remove bolt/top cap

4)Slide off stem/bar

5)Slide out forks and remove the crown race.

6)Fit the crown race to the steerer tube on your new forks

7)Slot steerer tube through headset and attach stem and necessary spacers

8)Attach brake and wheel

9)Fit top cap and hey presto, go ride!

Hope that helps :)

Hey man,

I was looking at new frames too and people have told me that ZOO! lynx is a really good frame, but I'm goin for Echo lite 09, as people have said it is nearly exactly the same as ZOO! lynx, and i Like the geomentry better on it.

Thanks.

Admin validation for the wiiiiiiiiiiin!!!!!!!!

I second that.

There are so many questions being posted in trials chat that should be in new members chat, if nothing else than so that new members that have the same problem can post in the thread and also new members are missing out on the chance to reply and show they are worthy of an upgrade.

No offense meant to the originator of the topic but how can you prefer the geometry of one frame to the other (which were the same by the way) and dish out advice to someone else about frame choice and not know how to change some forks?

This advice is being seen to be coming from a member so people noobs that don't know better are gonna think you know what your talking about

dear dear me.....

But then again, I spose it is possible to know what geometry you like and not know how to change forks, some people aren't technically minded.

You should be able to take a bike apart and put it back together in 7/8 months...

And only cut the steerer if you really need to. If you change frames later you might find the steerer tube is too short and not much for the stem to clamp onto. Cut it with a hack saw, or grind off however much you need.

I haven't bought many new parts so i haven't needed t take my bike apart.

But thanks for the help.

Also, may be a bit stupid but, what exactly is the crown? I cant get the forks to stop falling back through the headtube  and i dunno what to do...

Thanks

Crown is the part that is at the top of the fork legs.

to stop the forks from falling out the head tube, put the stem on.

Hey, thanks for that.

I have a clamp thing that holds the forks up, and i cant get it to tighten because it only just fits over the steerer tube, so the forks wabble when the stem is on and fall down when the stem isn't on.

What can i do?

Cheers.
