sandeeebeach219
Hey I have just tried to fit my disc rotor onto my bike, and the screws that screw into the hub fit the threads fine, but when i tried to turn the wheel, the screws were too long (when fully screwed into the hub) and were catching on the forks If i get new forks (echo urban) will the disc rotor fit or will i have the same problem? Appreciate any advice/answers Thanks
craigjames
Do you have domed torx (star) bolts or normal cap head allen bolts?

craigjames
Do your bolts look like this: or like this: Generally the latter will be higher profile and can catch on your fork legs, if you have those get some like the first; they're Ti,but some lil black torx disc rotor bolts will do you fine. If thats not the issue, get some pics up so we can figure out what is

I have the second kind of bolts by the way, allen heads. And its just like the top, larger part of the bolt that catches on the forks. So i think if i get smaller/shorter bolts, that will fix the problem. Do you know where i can get any of the smaller/shorter bolts? Thanks a lot. Aw cheers mate, thats brilliant. craigjames
Rotor bolts If you've tried something like them then I'd get some pics up or give us a spec (hub, forks, brake etc) of what you have, or even better both.

Luke Rainbird
What forks are those? There doesn't appear to be much room between the rotor's braking surface and the fork leg which could be due to the hub not being spaced quite so nicely as others, though that may just be the angle the picture is taken from. Luke Rainbird
Then either the spacing on your fork or on your hub is out. If there's no way to move the hubshell along the axle with spacers at all then your best bet shy of new parts is to try facing the disc mount on the hub a little, though if it's far enough out for your rotor to run the fork leg then facing probably won't help What forks are they? craigjames
I imagine its more with the fact that they're cheapo steel forks with the dropouts welded central to the fork leg. Unfortunately if it won't space out and wont work with proper Torx disc rotor bolts then it's new forks time, certainly a worth while upgrade. They are Monty forks, not sure what ones, they came with the bike. I am buying new forks, do you think the disc will fiit better on those? Luke Rainbird
Those forks should be perfect Edit: Hold up.... In that picture your wheel is the wrong way round so the rotor is on the driveside, not the disc mount side. Sometimes the fork will have a flattened section of leg to give more room and prevent issues like this. The fork does have a disc mount, right? Try it in the right way and see what it's like... craigjames
Those original steel Monty forks don't have a disc brake mount, were never intended for discs and therefore probs won't clear a disc whatever you do.

Hey No my forks havent got a disc mount, i thought i would try and see if just the rotor would fit. i didnt know it would make a difference to the rotor fitting on if i didnt have disc mounts (as the mounts on the forks are just for the caliper) I will try to fit it all when the new forks arrive Thanks a lot, been a real help. p_ruskin
Is it me, or is his disk on the wrong side of the hub?, well the rotor is on the right side, instead of the left (correct) side of the forks? It doesn't matter because I've tried it both ways round and it still doesn't fit right. You got any more suggestions as to how to make the brake and rotor fit? Thanks

sandeeebeach219
Yeah cheers Adam, I was just trying to see if the disc would fit, I wasn't particularly expecting it to really, but i didn't think the rotor has much to do with the forks(i thought it was just the caliper that had something to do with the forks) I will be ordering new forks tomorrow from tartybikes As Adam said, you will need disk forks, and try and get some proper rotor bolts for it too. So if i get the echo urban disc forks, the rotor will fir no problem? Thanks
