Juan Manuel
I'm buying a new frame as well as a booster (Magura) . The Echo SL booster looks nice BUT it's made from 6061 alloy. I know there are some others from 7075 alloys and carbon fibre (which are not in stock in the shop where I'm buying ) . Does anybody has one Echo SL booster?? What's your personal opinion?? Shaun H
There's less than 5% difference in stiffness between 6061 and 7075. The difference is mostly in the materials' strength and corrosion resistance.
anusthegreat
I heard some of my mates complained about 4-bolt boosters don't make such a big difference in braking power like 2-bolt ones. Also, it depends on a frame, if it's stiff or not. My HS-33 on the rear used to unclamp the frame too much so I had to obtain one of 4-b boosters from a local Russian manufacturer. Somehow, it's way better now, but since not perfect. People say it's better to try different boosters out before buying one. Mostly, people use boosters to protect magura's hose from damaging, if they have a decent frame, too. This is my setup and it's running pretty decent actually. Luke Dunstan
I have a echo sl 2 bolt booster works pretty good dosent flex but my rim dose I had one until yesterday, it was sooo flexxy, It made very little difference. It looks fancy, but it can't perform, so basically its useless. Just got the Tensile this morning, Stiffer than a frozen stiff thing. EDIT: 4-bolt Edited August 2, 2010 by xDUNSTANx
Juan Manuel
Well I suppose going for the Echo Sl 2-bolt booster is my best bet. I can't get tensile products in the dealer where I'm buying I suppose I should go for the Echo and try it. I can always sell it anyways
Mark W
The Tensile's stiffer 'cos it's effectively a big ol' horse shoe They're obviously stiff/strong, but they do have a weight penalty as a result of that. The SLs we've put on bikes here seem to have helped quite a bit in terms of reducing flex - if you do have a flexy frame then something that's more heavy duty like the Tensile would be a safer bet, but if it's only a bit of flex you need removing the SL should be fine. PeanuckleJive
I used to run an RB design 4 bolt, switched to an echo SL 2 bolt and it's just as good, if not better. I can't fault it all, works perfect for me
josh barker
normal trialtech 2 bolt booster, i had a bionic/gu booster on my blade 09 frame. was pretty poor, then got the trialtech and it made loads of difference. trialtech 2 bolt for the win
