Ollie Histon
Basically my Ipod is playing up big style. When trying to put music on it i get error 69. Which the apple website claims is down to putting on corrupt songs. However this cannot be the case because i can put the same songs on my other smaller ipod. The other problem to mention is that the songs i manage to put on my ipod before it gets error 69 are slow to respond and my ipod generally lags and eventually crashes. I have reformatted and restored my ipod a couple of times and still get the same problem. I have also tried changing the Drive letter of the ipod. Every now and again when i plug the ipod in a message from windows comes up suggesting to scan the ipod for problems, which leads me to think something deep down is corrupt, although i thought reformatting and restoring it would get rid of this? Its a long shot that anybody will know what to do but its worth a try eh? Ive explained the basics of my prob but feel free to ask plenty more questions on the matter because ive been trying to get this thing going for the past week. Cheers guys. Davetrials
This is single most ridiculous way of getting any help from anyone. i think you've actually made me angry. in fact you've ruined my otherwise perfect day.

Ollie Histon
just tell the whole problem on the thread and i might be able to help and it would be easier for others to help tooo Cool i'll put it up now then, was sort of a last resort asking on here because i've been trawling all over the internet looking for help but i know there can be some helpful people on here sometimes. MadManMike
What a wanker. That was a bit uncalled for. Ok, Dave's comment was slightly over the top but he has a point. Why ask for help and then not actually explain what you need help with? You're unlikely to get any help with that attitude.

He didn't have to react like that, i know he had a point but Liam mentioned in a much more polite way the fact i wouldn't get much help without putting the problem up. But yeah sorry Dave. P.S problem explained.
liam n
i can't rally help because i dont have an ipod but .... have you tried putting songs on one at a time??...because it may just be one corrupt song file
isitafox
I had exactly the same problem with mine and all I did was clear everything off and re-sync it and never had a problem since so it could be knackered. May be worth getting an appointment with one of the tech blokes at your nearest apple store.
Token
If the hard drive (ipod) is corrupt then reformat it to FAT32 with a suitable program, I'm not sure if Windows Disk Management worked for me when I tried ages ago as it's an external device, but you can google it and have a go with that or something similar like Partition Magic. Once it's formatted disconnect from computer, put the ipod into recovery mode (aka disk mode(also google that)) and then with itunes running, reconnect and hopefully with itunes recognising it, it'll prompt to restore the ipod, do that and with a bit of luck it'll work. If it's still not working after that, then I'd suspect a dead hard drive which you can pick up from ebay for a reasonable price and fit yourself using 'How-To videos from YouTube'. Good luck. Ollie Histon
right, thanks a lot for your help. i've tried reformatting it a few times, and the error 69 problem has gone. The only problem i'm left with now is that its still incredibly slow to navigate and respond when picking songs e.t.c. I reformatted it simply by right clicking on the ipod in my computer and doing it, is it perhaps because of this and not using partition magic like you said that its still slow? All i can really think now is that its just old and f**ked.?? thanks again
Tomm
What model iPod is it? I.e. does it have a hard disk (iPod classic / mini). If so it sounds like the hard disk may well be knackered. If a complete format / restore doesn't work then I'd wager you're out of options. A new hard drive isn't prohibitively expensive though, as long as you're willing to try and fit it yourself. I only bought it off a friend for a tenner to try and get it going, so if a new hard drive would sort it then its worth it. Im not sure exactly what model it is, but on the back it says 2007 and it looks like this... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/26/Black_Ipod_5g.jpg Any ideas what gen it is and if the hard drive you suggested would be suitable? Tomm
That picture is of a 5th gen iPod aka iPod Video. That hard drive I linked to was for this model, although you would need to buy the correct number of gigabytes. To work out exactly what model it is: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1353 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipod#Models P.S. It sounds to me very much like the hard drive, but it would be worth finding out for definite before you splash out on a disk for it. Skoze
That picture is of a 5th gen iPod aka iPod Video. Mine did the exact same thing last year, just gave up with it and got a new one in the end. Not much use i know, but i'd be it's a pretty common issue? Tomm
I've got a 5 year old 30Gb which is still going strong! I guess it has a relatively easy life though - it lives in my car and doesn't get chucked in bags / pockets etc. Fingers crossed it doesn't die now I've said that...
