Joe O'Connor
Hey, Im doing a temporary fix on my BMX until I get a new trials bike so then I can get a new BMX bike. I got a new front chain ring because it was way to hard to pedal (1:3 ratio), without thinking about ratio's I brought a much smaller one and its going to be about 1:1.5 gear ratio. Which is going to be the complete opposite of what Ive got now! haha. But what I mainly want to know is, what is the best BMX gear ratio? So this way when I get a better BMX I can get the best gearing possible. (I'll be doing street and some park riding mostly). Thanks, Joe
AlexxRogers
The standard is having a 9 tooth on the rear and 25 tooth on the front.
Sam Styles
The standard is having a 9 tooth on the rear and 25 tooth on the front. +1 or if you need more speed, possibly 30-10 or 25-
Mark W
Or 28:9. Standard ratios are 33:12, 30:11, 28:10, 25:9 and 22 or 23:8. If you want to make it harder, it's easier to do that on the front as you have a bit more control over it (Each change of tooth on the rear is the equivalent of changing 3 teeth on the front, so if you do it the other way round you can get a bit more precise). Leistonbmx
The standard is having a 9 tooth on the rear and 25 tooth on the front. I wish it wasn't. Smaller bearings in drivers? No thanks.
