modifiedridah2k9
Hey, my mates bike recently got stolen so i thought TF should deffinitly have a thread like this. Basicaly, if your bike gets stolen, your mates bike gets stolen or something, put up where you live, whereabouts it got nicked and if somebody possibly told you what the person stealing it looked like, that could help. Example: Hello everybody, I live in inverness, and today my bike was stolen from outside town centre. I was in for five minutes, and came out to find my padlock snapped in half, and bike gone. I straight away phoned the police. Also an old man that was in a resteraunt across the street saw the person take it, but could do nothing. He described him as a tall cacation (sorry for spelling, just say white) male, looked about 20-30. He had a brown goatie beard also.My bike is an echo lite with white rims and silver handlebars and stem. If anybody in inverness sees this bike, pm me and i shall give you my number to give me a ring. Please phone the police and give them information also. Thanks for reading, hopefully you have some helpfull info on where you possibly saw the bike. Kieran, Now thats just an example. But it could really help you out if you post that on this thread, and somebody takes a look and has seen it. This could help some people out, so if your bike has been stolen, post it here rather than clogging up trials chat with my bike has been stolen, as alot of people on here will probably have leading information. Kieran. Edited July 27, 2010 by modifiedridah2k9

MMMM-JASON
I'm sure there used to be something like this what ever happened to that. But yer sounds like a good idea.
CalopS
I dont think it brings enough focus to each case. I doubt everyone would look in the topic, but if you see "stolen bike in .......... area" on it own topic and its close by, you take a look. JT!
There was a stolen bike sticky but a think the mods decided not to bother with it because everyone was making their own topic anyway. To be honest, if you have your bike stolen I think that's a situation where making a new thread is understandable.
Hannah Shucksmith
I'll keep a look out for that Lite of yours dude. Condolences.
modifiedridah2k9
I know that people could just make their own thread, but this would be easier and not clog up the forums. And while i was making it i did think that somebody had no doubt made one, but well i couldnt find it, hopefully this can be stickied as i reckon that it could be helpfull, and yer Angus i sure hope he gets it! yoyoyo
The old sticky worked better because only mods could post so you only had posts with the details of the bikes on. Not like how this would end up with people saying " sorry to hear it" making it harder to find which posts are actually about stolen bikes. If someone sees something dodgy and looks in here they'll probably end up scanning all the condolences posts and might miss the important one because of it. Nice idea, can't see it being effective though.
modifiedridah2k9
Okay the guy above has a point, please no more posts unless its stolen bike related. Thanks everybody for saying its a good idea, i sure hope its stickied.
JDâ„¢
It's all about separate posts for separate stolen bikes. I'm totally against random threads clogging up the forum, but when it's about someones pride and joy being nicked then I think it's totally fine to make it a new thread - that way the story of that particular theft can be followed through to a (hopefully) happy ending. Nice idea, but ultimately flawed.
anzo
Won't work. The last one didn't, why would this be any different? It's a nice thought and all, but what are the odds of, using you example here, a bike being stolen in Inverness and me seeing anything of it in Derby? It's good for the 3 or so riders that actually live there, who would most probably all know about it anyway... Sure, a couple of sucess stories from getting stolen bikes back, but in all honesty I think those were done by hard work and a lot of searching (ebay and the likes).... Read it again, it says if somebody in that area sees it, tell the person that got it nicked.

anzo
Read it again, it says if somebody in that area sees it, tell the person that got it nicked. Blimey. Ok, well a post of a stolen bike is going to relate to approximately 0.00002% of this forum....worthwhile?

Sam Styles
Can this be closed this is the best thing for this thread. close it if this thread is where everyone is going to post their stolen bike, i really dont think people will be bothered to read it. but if there is a seperate topic for each case, like it has already been said, then that would have a greater affect on people reading it.
