felix00
Firstly I know there is a sticky for all the hello's etc but I was hoping for some replys. I'm a new member but not new to trials riding. So first of all "Hi people". I was riding trials in the good old days when there were no specific trials frames (about 11 to 12 years ago for quite a few years). Back then it was a stuggle to find equipment that wouldn't just break on you. The amount of cranks that used to get rounded and frames that snapped in half was shocking! (Do they still make the FSA Afterburner cranks!?! lol they were sh*te). I used to ride a Planet X Jumpin Jack Flash which went through many many evolutions and plenty of bodges. One of my favorites was using a spoke instead of cable to lock the rear mech into position. Single speed before they were mainstream! Looking around now there really seems to be a strong market and there has been alot of specialised equipment developed. There are loads of trials specific manufacturers now. Because of this I'm so out of touch with everything! Whats good? What do you stay clear of? Basically I'm thinking about getting back into it (probably not to the extent I used to but mainly keep fit n have a laugh) I'm keeping my eyes open at the moment for a pretty cheap frame that I can abuse but still not sure about what I want to do. What you guys think. 25 too old to start up again?
AkuskaUK
First off, welcome to the Forum!, secondly, welcome back to trials! i used to ride a good few years back too!, and no 25 is really not a reason to not try, keep at it!. I am also trying to get back into it and have a laugh , i am using an Onza T-Rex custom and its lovly, there are many sites you can buy trials parts from, i recommend TartyBikes (www.tartybikes.co.uk) as they have alot of stock and can get your parts to you quickly! Jamie_Trials
Never too old to stop trials, people in their 30's still doing trials on here.
raoulduke
I certainly hope 25 is not too old. I've literally just got back into trials myself (brought a bike last week), after an 8 year absence. I'm 25 Do it, it'll make me feel better! How Original
25 isn't too old, you should see the bloke on Youtube posting videos, he is 50 and only just starting. Gives ALOT of inspiration to people to say you really can do whatever you wish. Also I have an 26" Onza Spyrogyra for sale also, if you're interested. The main question on this thread though is regarding whats good n whats not nowadays? With so much specialisied equipment now I'm lost for choice. I wouldn't want a bike that is 100% dedicated trials. I'd like a trials frame thats still got a saddle really that i can still whack some triple clamps on and go hit some trails (I suppose that was a good thing when everyone used slalom frames for trials) Any thoughts on the because street frame thats on Tartybikes? iceroo
my dad is 38 and hes riding trials haha I'd love to see my Dad do Trials, he has a Moulton from the 70's haha. I'm the same, 25 and only just getting back into it since i was 16! Cant wait to hook up with a few local peeps and rock out the old skills Wish id had a place like this to meet like minded riders back in the day as most of my mates were into dirt so i was a lonely trials rider in Kettering

Probably an Inspired would be the way to go. 24" street style. Perfectly trials friendly, but can also do dirt jumping and whatever else you want Edit: sorry only just noticed how long ago that was posted Edited April 4, 2011 by How Original

What you guys think. 25 too old to start up again? Hey man, I too came back into it after a long break and originally rode at the same time as you. I was also (and still am) completely confused by all the specialist parts and things but you get the hang of it. I find it so much easier to ride my Echo pure than I did my Beast of the East, which is probably down to positive advancements in the sport and designing bikes in a way that do make moves so much easier - embrace it! lol There seems to be a few people on here that used to be into it mid-late 90's and had a brake and are now knocking on a bit...maybe we should all get together for a ride! Smiffy-23
Hey I'm still doing trials and have been for 15 years I use to use FSA power pro cranks and went through quite a few of them and frames as well my last old school bike was a Saracen x-ile and was awesome. It took me a while to get use to all the new bits I bought an onza t-Rex as my first proper trials bike and it's was good for getting use to a seatless bike and now I'm riding a 06 zoo pitbull and I got it off the forum for £80 which is a bargain and it's a beauty. If your after a bike to do dirt jumping as well I would say an inspired or the because street like you said it looks like a nice sturdy frame Edited April 5, 2011 by Smiffy-
