aener
You know damned well that wasn't the part of your post I was refering to. If you didn't... Well then.
Sphyrinx
There might be little perks, such as a bit of overall control Don't be so stupid, of course it does. Bike control is much better not just a little bit and smoothness as has been said by others, the difference is night and day! You know damned well that wasn't the part of your post I was refering to. If you didn't... Well then. Is this the part that was exactly what you said then?
aener
Nope. I was refering to how you made out that I was saying that I'd told people it doesn't help because I'd ridden brakeless for 10-15 rides, and also that you wrote that I told people not to ride brakeless. I said neither of these things. As I've said, and repeated: I said that my opinion should be taken with a pinch of salt as I hadn't ridden brakeless for very long, and that people should ride brakeless because they want to - not to try and improve their regular riding. Sphyrinx
In reply to does it help: No. There might be little perks, such as a bit of overall control, and wheel placement as OBM said - but I haven't noticed any massive improvement - though I did only ride a brakeless set ~10-15 times. If you want to ride brakeless - sure - go ahead. It's great fun. (For a while, atIeast - I found.) But I certainly wouldn't advise riding brakeless in an attempt to improve your braked riding. "I wouldn't advise" "I wouldn't do it" "it's not something I would recommend". Common phrases for "no, don't bother". Nope. I was refering to how you made out that I was saying that I'd told people it doesn't help because I'd ridden brakeless for 10-15 rides, and also that you wrote that I told people not to ride brakeless. Basically the only thing we really agreed on is how your original comment was stated as fact and based on nothing especially substantial. Essentially rather stupid. "oh yeah i tried some brake pads. Got a fresh grind, pulled the brake 10-15 times and they weren't great. I wouldn't bother with them if you want a good brake." You see how stupid that sounds? Krisboats
Wow, as much as i've enjoyed seeing this escalate, can we try and get back on topic now please and just let it be? It's kind of taken over the thread.
monkeyseemonkeydo
What are pedal grinds mate? Think rim grinds but on pedals- just improves the friction between the pedal surface (and we're talking platforms here rather than caged) and your shoe. Between the pins is usually smooth and painted giving little grip- grinding just improves things.

zoster
geez, been away for two days and the thread started to look like something you'd find on otn (only without the word "gay" said in every sentence) anyways, been to my house at the contryside and rode brakeless (i have a few wood obstacle thinghies there), and i really liked it. I can say i found out quite a few things about body movement in these 2 days. i can really see it helping out, plus it's fun..
Ali C
fun.. fun.. fun.. I agree, I REALLY miss being brakeless, I don't really feel like I have pushed my riding much since putting the brakes back on, but Demos would be hard without them.
