Kenny--Trials
Hey Guys, I just wanted to know: What is the best rear brake? Thanks
forteh
I would stick with a magura, echos are historically notorious for leaking, whether this has been solved with the newer models I dont know. At least with magura you know its going to work

The TPA is broken on both sides and they have both been leaking

The TPA is broken on both sides and they have both been leaking Nothings wrong with it you might have treated it wrong or thrown it on the ground and the hose has loosened and its leaking as the 04's (which im guessing by "old" is the ones you mean) are better than the newer versions apparently, so if your gonna get a new brake, i'd recomend another 04' or an 05'. Echo's are dodgy mate. Kieran.
Kenny--Trials
Ok ... it seems really weak though or is it just my riding... I have really slow reaction times so I can go over backwards quite easily. Is that it? Or have I just got a dodgy pair of brakes?
modifiedridah2k9
Ok ... it seems really weak though or is it just my riding... I have really slow reaction times so I can go over backwards quite easily. Is that it? Or have I just got a dodgy pair of brakes? I don't know to be honest, i think you should either buy an 05' maggy, or rebleed, get new pads and a new tpa for your maggy you have justnow. Edit:what i have also found makes the brake have a way better hold is oull it really hard! shetlandtrialsrider
I have had two sets of echo levers and they have been really good! They have never leaked on me and are far stronger than maggies. The tpa also does not get stuck or jammed which was a problem I had with maggies. The only snag I have with them is that you cant get braided hoses for em. Hope that helps

Is that it? Or have I just got a dodgy pair of brakes? They might well just need a new bleed and setting up properly. Any local riders know their way 'round a brake for you? Kenny--Trials
... i know how to bleed it but thats not the problem the problem is its leaking and the tpa is broken and you cant buy any kits to fix it with as mine is '04 and the repair kits start from '05. There are some tpa kits for 04's floating about. just look. just shove some 05 maggies on there with braided hoses and a echo lever blade, job jobbed, mines lush.
