isitafox
I've just adjusted the chain on my python as it was drooping quite bad underneath but I'm not 100% sure if I've done it up too tight?! I can still move it if I touch it lightly with my fingers but it's not quite loose enough to flap on my stays which was really doing my head in before, is this too tight? Sam Styles
it will be become looser when you ride, i had mine possible as tight as yours, and it didnt do anything to my bike. should be fine
theom
If your freewheel doesnt spin freely then its too tight, otherwise it should be fine.

Alex Dark
should be able to push the chain so it touches the stay. If you can't then it's definitely too tight:) A tight chain will accelerate sprocket and chain wear, and a loose one may cause skipping. Mark W
It doesn't necessarily have to touch the stays - a few mm is usually fine. Another thing to note is that almost all FFW setups will have a tight point and a loose point, so make sure you adjust your chain for that loose point and it should be fine. I have a tight and loose point on mine and its really bad. In fact my freewheel skips so often it dangerous. Yea just make sure its not stupidly tight and you will be fine. You should check it every ride. I have to adjust mine nearly everytime. (prob because my fw is so knackered)
matthew_coggan
I have always done mine so that you struggle to pull it in to the frame and i have never had a chain snap on me
