dirt jumper jake
Hey all, just been out for a ride and all of a sudden my profile hub has stopped engaging. when you pedal it just spins freely and makes a strange clunking noise. but when your pushing the bike alone it still makes the normal clicking noise of a cassette, ive took it apart and everything looks fine so im a bit confused, anyone else had this problem? AlexxRogers
The teeth in the hub, have been unattached from the hub shell, I'm guessing.

Sponge
Toothed engagement ring inside the hubshell has stripped threads in the hubshell itself. So that's why it's spinning freely. Only realistic solution is to get the shell replaced. Profile are normally good with warranties.

Bought it second hand and dont have the receipt Best bet is to go with front freewheel considering theres isnt any good 36h rims about now? Dan6061
I did that to my old Profile shell. As well as cracking/splitting it too! I opened it up wondering why it wasn't engaging, then looked a bit closer and noticed a gap between the ratchet and the shell body. All you can do is replace the shell, or just get a new hub. TROYston
Yup 100% stripped ratchet. I have a spare hub with some worn teeth (its hard to explain, it still runs perfect, just on a single tooth half is worn but the otherhalf of the tooth is fine) i could sell you for £10 its in blue.
