  4. 4. Including you, how many people are usually out for an average group ride (Ignore more organised events like Tartydays or competitions)? If the number varies a lot pick an average or comment on it in a post.

I dont think that i ever ride solo, always with a mate. The same guy everytime.

But i have been on " Leicester rides, one of them with a big group (10 people +) and a smaller one (about 6 people)

Went to Loughborough today as well, there was 3 of us

Oh my G-d, you, guys, must have got a lot of courage riding solo. I can't stand biking alone, no progress, no fun at all. From time to time, once or twice a month I have to make a small trip to pick something up; and I'm riding my bike alone, but not trialing. I prefer to go on foot if i'm alone instead of getting bored making attempts of solo riding. This is one of the reasons I'm finishing building a fixie for trips this week.

We usualy gather up to do some trials with my mates.

Id say around 50% solo.

I often ride solo and enjoy being able to practice and repeat moves and do what I want to do. Dont have to worry about other people getting bored of riding the same place. I also like to be able to ride constantly, do a lot in a short space of time instead of being sat there chatting etc and not riding! Bad thing is not feeling safe, worrying about bike/bag getting nicked, attracting unwanted attention from chavs... I never ride solo in town either because i'd feel like a bit of a dick hopping around on walls and benches on my own!

The other 50% i usually ride with 1 other trials rider and a mate who tags along with his dirt jump bike. Its good to get different ideas and see peoples different strengths etc.

Seems like my trials scene has dwindled since moving to peterborough, when I used to live in leeds I always had another riding buddy and very often around 5 of us would be out, used to be great!

Anymore regular riders from peterborough!?

I went down to my local spot last night (swimming baths), and luckily my mate Ryan came down with me to watch and have a go because shortly after around 20 "chavs" came out of the swimming pool and started watching commenting "orr mert I can do that on ma BMX" etc. Luckily I didn't fall or anything though.

  • 1 month later...

If I get bored enough I'll grab my bike and go out for a ride, but I usually end up finding my mates and just chill with them. I've been on a few group rides recently though, usually get around 3-5 of us out. Not really into major big rides or anything anymore...
