modifiedridah2k9
Well i had a hope, think it was a hope mini. They are pretty amazing, but they are so easy to break. They are a complete hassle to be honest. If i was you, i would order the Avid BB7 i think it is, they rock! Its all up to you though. And when hopes get contaminated, they are so hard to get clean, mine got binned it was so hard. So cable disks for the win mate. Oh, and welcome to Trials-Forum!

Oh, and welcome to Trials-Forum! ? none of that is true, i have tried lots of front brakes (magure louise, hs33 with a grind and smooth and loads of pads, cable discs) and i must say i have a hope (old style with old lever) and the performance is so good, i thought the louise was good but my old batterd up hope with a bent rotor and nearly dead lever is just so good. outperforms any other brake for trials

Sorry. doesnt any brake get contaminated easily? its so simple to happen, spillage of substances? it happens the same, something funny go's on pads = contamination. How Original
I use a HOPE disc on the front, I think it's 210mm? Not 100% sure as it come with the bike when I bought it. I have never had any problems with it breaking or anything, not even had to change the pads yet. I would go for it if I was you.

Mark W
Don't forget it'll need to bed in a little so don't be surprised if it's not awesome instantly. Bit of water and some pedalling/brake dragging should sort you out on that front though

Skoze
Oh, i thought you meant that they get contaminated easily and are hard to clean wasnt true. Sorry. They won't get contaminated any easier than any other disc, unless you f**k it and it pisses fluid all over the rotor/ pads. And if it ever gets really badly contaminated, new pads and rotor and you've pretty much got a brand new brake again... Get one, i've sworn by them. BB7's just feel too wooden, Hopes are beautiful. rab shropshire
i have tried a couple of hopes and they never really blew me away, but then again there are many more people that swear by them than dislike them. the bb7 was fantastic, although sometimes feel wooden, they can be adjusted so many ways that you can get the desired lever feel im probably a little biased though as i have never actually owned a mono trial
AlexxRogers
BB7 all the way, much better for money. Both Neil and Damon are running BB7's now, and look at how they gap to front... Hope is good for modulation, but not pure locking up performance. I say go BB7. Alex.
Sam T
the bigger the disk the better the breaking!! 200 mm The bigger the disk, the bigger the snap
Alister Hirst
I used to have the old style hope minis on my bike and I loved them. Seriously powerful for what I was using them for and not too much squeal... That was until the bike got stolen Alister
Alex Dark
Had Hope mini, Old BB7, new BB7, Mono trial and gusset disc...along with some maggie setups. Best for power was the magura ( cousts light sharp grind ) so much bite was lovely up to front.... next was the avid, (\although i have snapped 3 calipers all old style ) pretty close to the magura just with masses of spoke flex as to be expected on a stock. The mono trials was next best but not as much hold or bite as the BB7 for me . Brand new I'd go avid, second hand hope all the way..so much better value for your money. isitafox
Shame your not validated yet as there's a guy in the for sale section selling about 4-5 hopes!
Dale-Hill
I've used both BB7 and hope's and to be honest if you look after them there's not that much difference in them But i do love my hopes a lot more, I don't have to mess about with it half as much as i did with my bb7. Hope are also amazing with Warranty if anything did go wrong too. Both BB7's and Hope have there pro's and cons though. Edit: I used the new style BB7 and i'm using some fairly old mono trial calipers and the new tech leavers on my hopes.
