Top Gear Challenge

I was just thinking, after top gear had races between a car and some bmxers and some parkour guys why not some trials riders?

Anyone thought of emailing in and offering them a challenge?

Would be a good bit of viewing if they'd agree, maybe one bike a brakeless 24" and the other a standard mod or stock.

What does everyone reckon?

If use a 24 you should try and use the because trial, because it'll give trials the seatless look if you get me then not to many people would have to ask about the all the f**king time.

EDIT: only an idea though, obv you could use and inspired but i think because trial might suit it a bit more.

I can't think of a worse bike for a challenge like that, I deffo think it should be streety, to be able to bunnyhop over stuff, up walls and down drops. It's different to bmx and still fast and entertaining (rather than watching someone roll up to a wall, trackstand, get on the back wheel, hop about and then get up the wall).

So it's agreed then, with the powerful backing of Tartybikes and Inspired behind him Ali C will contact Top Gear, give them the idea and see it through if it kills him.

Good for you Ali, we're all rooting for you! :-

Trials just isn't fast enough. And as Tic's sort of pointed out with those two links, it's already been done, twice!

What's going to be so different about someone on a 24" hopping around on walls etc, compared to the guys on the BMXs doing the same? Look at it from the average viewer, not as a trials rider... it'll just be a repeat of what's already been done.

It is a nice idea, but I can't personally see it happening.

I love the crap you post, Will you sit in a cupboard and I can just open the door and let you out when i need cheering up?

In other news, I really really hope Ali sends them an email, would be awesome viewing I reckon. Plus you get a cheap insult at the end when you beat the car, not many people can say they were PERSONALLY insulted by Clarkson

But i need food, and i might get lonely..

I really think Ali should send them an email though, go on its worth a shot, even if we (Ali/trials) doesn't win its still publicity for trials.. right?

Why does everyone want publicity for trials? We get more and more f**kwits joining this forum every day, and more than that are sitting around some local walls wondering why they can't tap 157" yet when they've been riding a whole 2 weeks. Personally I preferred it when no-one knew about it and those that did didn't moan so much. (Yea, hypocrite blah blah)

But it would be pretty cool to see Ali/Someone go up against Top Gear, that's for sure.

Publicity for trials is good and bad, in a way. If there's more people doing it, then theoretically there's more money involved and more riders should be able to 'live the dream' and be able to earn some kind of living from trials. However, realistically it seems that the majority of companies getting into trials are doing it to maximise profits and don't really seem to give much of a shit about it itself, which is fair enough in many ways. Business is business, after all.

I don't really understand the thing about needing to have seats on it though - people still know what trials is, and the most famous trials riders in the public eye have pretty much always had seats (e.g. Ryan Leech, Danny Mac, the Martins back in the day, Chris Akrigg, etc.). It doesn't really make much difference, and even if they were all seatless it wouldn't stop people asking where your seat was...
