Skoze
Find some old bars, cut x length off each end, stick a slightly smaller diameter tube inside (emphasis on slightly, needs to be really tight), with plenty going into what will be the extension and also plenty to go into the original bars, then just whack 'em in. Job done. EDIT: or you could put the smaller diameter tube into the bar first, then the extension over tht, whatever way would work fine. Leistonbmx
Wood will be fine if it's done properly.
Muel
I used wood dowell to extend my old monty bars. All you have to do is hammer it down the bars a few inches (needs to be tight, but if you get soft wood like pine then it squashes slightly), then cut off the end so there is an inch or so sticking out, then wrap it in tape until it's the same width as the bar, then just colour the end in with a black pen, and wack the grips of the top. Muel
The tape always squidges about a bit. What kinda tape did you use? Duct tape works best. I then used foam grips with nothing sticky or anything, just scrubbed the insides with a pan scourer and hot soapy water, then cleaned the bar the same, rinsed and inflated them on. 315r
I would never do that. Just my opinion. Edited June 30, 2010 by 315r
