kieran.paul.johnson
right guys i have been looking through all these post and the topic of tar keeps popping up! and i was wondering what it is used for and how do u use it? cheers, kieran.paul.johnson
Dale-Hill
It's used on rim brakes to make the brake that little bit better. All you do is apply a little bit of tar to the surface of the rim.
anusthegreat
Tar can be used to improve braing power. However, the best way to obtain powerful braking effect is to grind a rim. Tar will not provide any extra power during wet weather. The surface becomes wet and it's even worse; while grinding a rim gives you extra kick-ass power. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/media.php?group=guides&id=

You can but when it rains it kind of point less having the grind as the groves are filled with tar.
