forteh
I always hold my front brake, not entirely sure why, guess its a subconsious thing to even out the grip on each side of the bars; probably makes zero difference Its something that Id like to learn to stop doing, perhaps Ill focus on it more in future. Stanners
Yeah i do the same. Just find it weird taking my finger off just to put it back on the lever again. Plus seeing the front wheel spin is off putting Come to think of it, i definently have my finger on the lever. Not sure if i have it in though. This is well messing with my mind now. Matt Vandart
This is something I need to learn to stop doing but it is really hard to stop.
Sam Moss
I used to do this that was untill i snapped my brake mounts and i didnt have a front brake for a month or two. after that i never did it again and i have to say that it makes no difference what so ever
MikeCottTrials
I can do it either way, really makes no difference to me. EXCEPT when doing front wheel moves I forget to pull it sometimes
davey1991
Its weird but i find it helps my balance when i do it haha.
Twista
I do it too. Glad someone posted this topic, now I don't feel like the only one doing it, lol
Alle.C
I'm always holding the front brake, I think it's quite disturbing the wheel is spinning
psycholist
Having the front wheel spinning while going across stuff looks slightly cooler ... No difference really unless you're willing to argue for the spinning front wheel adding slightly to your stability through gyroscopic forces... If you've got a really heavy front wheel, movements that change the angle of the bike such as when you kick onto the back wheel from flat ground may be noticeably easier with the front brake off. Ashley Sayers
i do it
Dušan
i do it also because i feel like iam slipping off the bars if i dont do it.... but i want to learn front wheel spin i think i try to ride without it when only when i will be so much bored as you all say it doesnt matter if u hold it or not
Joe O'Connor
I used to, I learnt not to so it made it look better haha. Also saves your finger strength for a bit longer because your not pointlessly holding the brake in.
Jamie_Trials
Its weird but i find it helps my balance when i do it haha. +1, and its easier to bail IMO.
aener
Unless I plan on using the front brake for an up to front/whatever, I ride much better and more confidently with right-hand deathgrip.
mods
i have to have my finger on the front lever as well. All the people i ride with do as well. Just feels wrong if i dont. I can choose not to pull it though. Mostly i dont give it a thought and i think i pull it in Weird really. Most people do it though i think. Stefkeeee
Me too I just can't take my finger of. Maybe it's due that I am riding motorcycles in which you hold the finger on the lever all the time. Glad someone made the topic now I am not the only one doing it. siyross
I think almost everyone does this. If you just stop you will tend to pull the rear brake side of the bars slightly harder and may set yourself off balance. If you feel comfortable doing it then carry on. As long as it doesn't hinder your riding then there is no problem.
steve g
I find having the front brake on has a positive effect on balance, i guess its to do with the centrifugal force ?
