Weird Chain Tension

why does the tension in my chain change as i spin the cranks round? it's slacker when the cranks are in my riding postion (left foot forward) and tight in the opposite? have i bent something? or is this the norm? isis burns with a cloud 9 and a pro2 on the back. if that makes a difference?

also are rock pads in cnc'd vee backings any good on a smooth rim? and will bealay pads fit in my TNN vee backings (i have the earlier backings with crm material)

I got told that this is slightly down to uneven wear on the chainring as us trials riders tend to mostly ride with our good foot forward making one only side of the chain ring see alot of action. Also I have been told that parts are hardly ever perfectly centric wich will make it abit ovalised.

Or like you said it's possibble something might be bent.

Don't hold me to either of those theories though.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about as pretty much every trials bike I have ridden does it.

if i rotated the sprocket round would it change? i don't think it's the BB cause i moved the cranks to different splines and it was the same (Y) maybe a new chainring up front is in order.

Have a look for uneven wear on the top/front of your sprocket when your chocolate pedal is forwards, if the teeth are signigicantly worn just rotate the sprocket :)

If you did that it would just be slack at a different point. Don't worry about it, it's been a minor problem in all the time I've been riding but it's never interfered in a big way.

It's just where the freehub/ffw or whatever isn't perfectly concentric Sp? Basically it's not all a perfect radius from one point so one point is higher from the axle(centre of the circle) than the other. Just put which ever foot you have forward, forward when setting chain tension. Doesn't really matter how tight it is with the opposite foot forward.
