street-rider
Hey everyone, even though im new to trials, ive been riding mtb's for about 8 years now, and whenever ive had street/park bikes ive ended up hopping about and doing trialsy lines. The only problem is that any trials bike ive ever ridden has felt super slow and not very responsive, i want something thats easy to throw and flick about, but im 6'4", so dont really know what size frame i should be looking for? or more importantly what kindof bar/stem setup. i know its best to play about and see what feels right but if im going to be building one from scratch id like as much help as possible so i can get it close to being the right size for me. Luke Dunstan
That's a tricky one, If you're used to 26" then stick to it I guess. Wide bars are a lot better for trials. I'd say look at other stock set-ups and get some ideas from that.also research some street riders and see what they use. I'd recommend using a slightly larger frame than the 2" styles you see today. multi tasking male
what about a 24" ? there lighter than a stock (if the right build) but bigger than a mod so you will fit better and the front ends on 24" is higher than mods or stocks, higher gear ratio as well and if you wanted you could get a frame built by marino and make it a prety big 24" if you want. you can use 24" for general biking aswell, like i have done dirt jump, long distance (would recomend it) bmx (of course and a bit of down hill (that hurts) and the only thing there not good for is speed if your compering it to a road racing bike lol. basicy there a lot mor practicle. i say go 24". That DOES make a lot of sense, until last year i was riding a 24" BMX cruiser, I'm 6ft 2 and it felt perfect. Never ridden a 24" trials bike, although I'd love too. chris4stars
you could speculate for ages based on previous experience / size / riding style youd prefer but for the money you may potentialy shell out its still a gamble probably the best option out of them all (in my opinion) is to find a number of riders near to where you stay....get in touch, meet up, have a go!? if youre not a tool, everyone is usually happy to help and you get to meet the riders you'll no doubt be hoping to ride with in future anyway win. win.
