trailfinder
My son who is 7 years old and recently took part in his first race at the PedalOn, Southern XC-Cross Country race at Pippingford, he came 4th only out of lack of experience; he is fast and could have easily come in the top 2 (only 4 seconds behind 3rd having got stuck behind others being to polite and starting last in field due to confusion at start). I take him out most weekends and some evenings round Deepcut Surrey, but there seems to be limited opportunity close by to get him involved with local mountain biking groups to bring him on and coach him, does anyone have any ideas since everything seems to be based around over 8's? I have seen other junior clubs competing such as Hern Hill at the likes of Gorrick and could, with a little proper direction, easily hold his own as he has been riding since 2 without stabilisers XC and this is his passion! Sorry mate think you're in the wrong kind of place for xc advice, some people may be able to help but don't hold your breath!
Tux07
xc, just tell him to pedal lots, go up hills and wear lycra, job done local mountain biking groups to bring him on and coach him, does anyone have any ideas since everything seems to be based around over 8's? just copy them, just because they're for over 8s doesn't mean he can't do it
