monkeyseemonkeydo
Jeez, not clipped in, on a mountainbike Pah, that's nothing. Real men do it on trials bikes . Good luck Mr Quiggley! Hope the weather's kind to you!
James Quigley
Right day 4 over. Currently in Stroud Day 1: 4 snapped chains, 1 puncture, friend ridding single speed because of chain, gps took us into a quarry with no exit, got to campsite at midnight! Day 2: 1 puncture, too many hills, didn't make campsite so slept in a lane on the side of an A road, it rained all friggin day! Day 3: friends rear wheel broke (spokes pulled through rim), loadsa hills otherwise fine. (new wheel bought in Taunton) Day 4: uneventful, just dragged on and on. Let's hope our luck improves, haha. I'm physically fine but it is testing me emotionally, my friend isn't in great shape so I spend about 2 hours a day waiting for him to catch up which is frustrating when it means you don't get to your destination till midnight and there are longer routes ahead. Otherwise a ok. Tomorrow off to stourport on seven. P.s. iPhones are a lifesaver!

Real men duck tape their hands and feet to two wheels and contract-expand the whole way, even if it doesn't actually work. Right day 4 over. Either way, your reward at finishing should be fairly immense such that none of the struggling will matter much anymore when that happens
James Quigley
Day 5: had another puncture, turns out there was a massive hole in my tyre! Luckily happened on glouchester and there was a bike shop nearby. Pissed it down in the last 30mins but was flat all day so we've had our first good one!!!! txt2007
Hey, i've just got back from john ogroats, i went up the east cost through edinburugh and it's flat, the only hills are before dunbeath 20% down then a 20% climb, the worse hills ive done so far where around slaidburn, and from what everyone's been telling my devon is the hardest because of the continous rolling hills. How are you going through scotland, because after edinburugh i went along the a9 past aviemore to inverness that way but it was horrible so if you're going that way, go through braemar, cock bridge, and up that way, it's alot hillier but it's worth it. In edinburgh i stayed in a place called bilston, it's awesome there, it's a protest site against a road, so theyve built tree houses and tunnels, if you havnt already prebooked accomodation stay there! James Quigley
Stayed with a friend in the centre of Edinburgh last night, got a bed and everything. Tonight we're in Perth (old scone) 2 days ahead of schedule. Hopefully get to john o 1 day ahead so we can take the last couple of hundred miles easy. James Quigley
Well I done it! Landed at John O'Groats at 3:10 on Tuesday Afternoon, One day ahead of schedule (not bad for a lad who's never ridden more than 25 miles in a day). Thanks to all that wished me luck, we did need it in the end. Only managed to get 1 free meal and 2 free nights camping, did steal a lot of electric through other pitches hookups though.
