Desmond Derv
Ok, so today I got my savings and went to my local bike shop in Keighley, spent nearly an hour haggling on price and freebies and got the bike at the average RRP: £389.99 with a free Helmet (need one so bonus) and a pair of 'cheap' pair of gloves, bonus as I would probably have gone and bought some later anyway. I got my new bike home and did the 'checks' I have seen on tarty-bikes video guides, making sure chain was ok, tyres seamed decent pressure, pedals were nice and tight, crank was safe, but I didn't think to check the wheel 'nuts'. Well I was playing in the back garden learning/trying to get my balance skill done to a t (I did ok ) and managed to endo and do 2 'hops' on the back wheel (cant figure the pedel up yet), all going well so far I thought, I had to cut my little play time short to go quote for a job and before I did I decided to get the feel of 'dropping of stuff' so I 'dropped' of a 2ft wall (yes I no tiny but I have never ridden a bike over the edge of something lol) then had to dash so placing my new treasure in the garage had a quick look over, chain was lose (the guy in the shop and tartys said it would first few rides) and then notice the front 'nut' washer was missing, I have found it in the garden. I has broken, the middle part of the washer has simple removed itself from the 'outer' case, I am taking the bike back tomorrow to get this issue fixed. I was just wondering is this a common part to brake? I don't think this should have broken as I did not try any Danny Mac stunts lol just simple stuff and had a little play to get the feel. I have attached a pic of my lovely steed and its broken bits Up-loader didn't work Broken part Broken bike Edited May 11, 2010 by Desmond Derv

isitafox
Not too good bout the washer but the bike looks very nice! I'd consider a mod looking like that!
JD™
Don't run before you can walk buddy, but yea that shouldn't have happened. Getting your balance down to a t will not take half an hour - I remember spending hours and hours and hours and a few more hours trackstanding until it was absolutely second nature. Keep at it, but remember that you're not going to be awesome any time soon (that's just a fact of the sport) and that things do break when you try something too soon. Desmond Derv
Yeah this post was more a rant cos I was so annoyed lol, I just been to tartys to colect some new washers (in red to match ) so will trying to balance more this afternoon. Thanks for the comment about the look, just need to keep at it. And yeah things brake, the bikes do take hammer from what I have seen, so I got around 170 quid stashed for spares. Mark W
If the wheel bolt gets over tightened that can cause that to happen. Just ask Stan But yeah, it can just sort of happen from time to time. It's not that common, just one of those things unforunately!
Desmond Derv
Well all sorted and been trying to track-stand all day, still not perfect but getting better, I still got no clue what so ever on how to perch on the back wheel or pedal hop, any tips would be greatly appreciated as its starting to do my head in! I can do it by endo-pull back-hop but then the front gets dragged down, and if I try to do it from stand still (like a pedal up) the bike either slams down when I put the back brake on or runs away from me lol. The balance point is far further back than your body will let you believe till you find it. Trashzen or whatever it's called is a great tool for beginning riders

Desmond Derv
Yeah my sister boyfriend is a moto trials rider and did push iron trials years back, showed me what its meant to look like lol, I was way surprised how far back I need to be. I am deffo improving in just a few days and another bonus I found a super spot to play, has some small and large gaps, proper nat' trials sections, some man made streety style sections and loads more, I think a load of MTB hang out there, but will find out tomorrow night (if its a nice day after work)
