isitafox
After making a small trials course yesterday, not much but good bit of practice, I fancy trying it back to front to practice dropping off with precision onto stuff and climbing up big obstacles. The problem is I tried going at it the wrong way but I just don't know how to approach the first bit, its a 3ft tall steel box. Pics of me dropping of it are here and I had a few go's and tried using a brick for a kicker at the bottom but everytime I failed miserably as I didn't have the confidence to go for it, just unsure what would be the best way to approach it, should I go for a half pedal or approach a bit faster, coast into it and try to hop up? Any advice at all would be great as this is whats currently limiting my riding ability, loads of walls and stuff nearby my gaff but I'd rather be able to jump up them on the bike than lift the bike up to have a play on top! pogo
What gearing are you running? half pedal stroke's probably the best option, how high were the hps in your vids, might be worth trying some smaller stuff first.

Running 18/15 at the moment, not 100% on the height of the street sign I did but must have been +18" at least. Hopefully gettin hold of some railway sleepers soon (if I can get them picked up) so would you say its worth stacking them up and slowly increasing the height that way? Or even stacking some up as the approach to that box and taking them away as getting up gets easier? Reckon it should only take a few hours to sort if I can get the right technique and course setup! Simpson
Yea man you can't just say I've built a 36" box and want to get up it, you have to progress upto the point which you can make it - try starting at 20" and working your way up. chrishayton
tap! Ride up to it. pedal to lift front wheel, hit the front wheel against side of obstacle whislt pedaling with your body low and pounce and push bike up under you on top of wall. (watch coustellier or vincent hermance videos for perfect execution.) You are riding a pashley though so maybe just a big bunnyhop? If you can pick up some pallets they'll be much more useful as the increments of size as you increase the stack are easily one of the best ways to improve your riding

Matt Vandart
Learn pedal ups on yer bath tubs and tap the big box, it's easier than you think. Check out TRA's tap thread on OTN.
