160Mm Cranks

As we all know the majority of mods run bash plates so this is not normally a problem.

Im looking to run 160mm cranks with a ffw and bash ring. There seems to be a lot of selection of cranks all around a similar price, with as far as i can tell, not a lot of differance between them.

I would like to know What cranks would be best to run the setup above. preferances and experiances would be good too.

Many thanks

All i know is that 160 try-all ISIS wont run ffw and bash and if going by tarty's reccommendation of minimum of 7mm thread needed for a ffw the 165mm try-all ISIS will not take a bash ethier.

I ran trial tech 160mm for a while with ffw/bash with no problems, i would suggest you go for them, but there the only other crank ive ever tried.

Also look out for the crank offset this can make a fair bit of difference to the feel of the bike, i would try to get some cranks with similar offset to your current cranks

You been using them with a front freewhweel and bash gaurd, not bash plate?

Been running monty 158cranks with bash plate, then switch to monty cracks+bash ring and now run trialtech cranks+bash ring. Always ffw.

Echo's can be run with a bash ring but you are best off with a bash 4mm thick or less on the clamp area.

Also relevent is that some freewheels will not run with a bash if it does not have a step machined into it, you have to fit a spacer and this cuts down on the amount of threads gripping.

Monty, Viz and other freewheels with the lock ring against the crank arm have this problem, the outer drive ring rubs on the bashring.

Having said that it'll soon wear a grove into it.

The Tarty cnc bash takes care of this problem nicely and is well priced.
