Mission: wind up Mark by saying that as much as possible, commence!

That'll have to be over the phone. My last post wasn't a joke. There are people going on this trip who I know have used that phrase on here before, and I don't really understand how they'd be 'compatible' on this trip. I have no desire to ride with them, and as such, I can't really be bothered going. We're clearly going to want to ride different spots, we don't really have anything in common, and I don't really have any intention to drive for a hell of a long time to not have the most fun possible.

I can't tell if there is meant to be some degree of joking insincerity to this post?

I do appreciate the idea of making the spot choice 24" orientated though. Seems only fair given the fundamentals of the tour. And yeah, if it weren't to be that way then I'd be less inclined to attend. But I guess if 24", or similar style on other bikes, riders are the majority then this seems an inevitability?

It's a joke Mark. Of all the rides I've been on, some of the most fun have been with the duttiest TGS slegzz that the trials world has to offer.

Now you're not going because someone once said, "get a bmx"? No offence but it sounds like you need to get a high horse, get on, and then off it again. :P

Not meaning to rock the boat as I can't make it any road, but seriously....

We will be riding whatever we want to ride, and going on last year that was transitions and parky stuff rather than straight flat walls of varying heights ;)

Mark, if you don't want to come that's totally fair enough but it will be a shame not to have you about. People coming on this trip are playing by our rules, else they'll be on some pretty lonely rides in places they're rather unfamiliar with... :P

Last year we had mods, 24's, 26's; demo riders, comp riders, street riders, TGS slags

and it was epic, it wasn't the style of riding - it was the riders that made the tour great.

I love street, but put me on my perfect set up 24" with loads of good 24" riders with no personalitys with the best spot in the world - and i would have a shit time.

It's not because they said one phrase, it's more that I just don't particularly like them full stop. And again, if they're more into the TGS style of riding then we're probably not going to want to ride the same sort of spots. I don't particularly like just riding from one slightly above bars wall to the next slightly above bars wall, which appears to be what almost all 'TGS' style rides I've been on have had to offer. To get down to this tour I'm going to effectively have to drive about 6 hours one way then 6 hours back, and to do that when I've not got much money just to ride places I'm not really into with people I don't like (not meaning everyone - there are plenty of people on here I'd like to ride with, and will later in the year hopefully).

No doubt, and I'd fully agree with that.

Ouch, f**ks sake who's is this dummy just lieing on the floor? I tripped over it. :(

Whatever. I can't really be bothered explaining it in any more detail, but I'd hoped this could be an awesome trip but for increasingly multiplying reasons it basically wouldn't end up being how I'd initially hoped it would be. I'm sure it's still going to be an awesome trip, but just not for me.

:shifty:

I'll merk you bruv :P

You know full well I'm not. :P

I'd love to be there, but just can't afford it. I thought about borrowing the money from the rents, but decided against it. I need money for getting my motorbike's engine going again, not for spending on train fares.

Pffft, it's not about my priorities, it's about looking at my bank balance, looking at the cost of a return ticket and seeing one is bigger than the other, in the wrong order.

I could easily borrow the money, but I don't like borrowing and have no fixed income so can't be certain of when I can pay it back.

Erm...

So Mark has rent/bills/other stuff to pay for, along with work and things that could be bringing in more funds to stash away. On top of that with people bailing/different people coming the trip may just not appeal to him so much that he'll compromise on the previous stuff for it, where as if it'd been an absolute banger of a lineup he'd have been more willing to justify it.

If you're not coming you really can't call other people out on it though :P

I'm not coming anymore. Someone on this trip (no names mentioned) said to me a few years ago 'You should get a trials bike' and I just can't hack it.

Only messing with you Mark haha, I know what you mean (before anyone takes offence: not about the whole not getting on with people thing, just that people are what makes a road trip so there's no point if you haven't got much in common).

Compare the reasons though.

"Some TGS riders are going and I don't like them"

"The man at the train station won't give me a ticket because I don't have anything to give him in return".

That's substantial grounds for a calling if you ask me...

:P

"Some TGS riders are going and I don't like them"

*sigh*

Read Luke's post. It's not because there are a couple of people going I don't really like. I'm not made of money either. Last week of the month for me (= low money anyway), I moved house this month (as in massive out-goings) and had to buy some new tyres for my car. 4 1/2 hour drive down, 6 hour drive back up. That's not including the diesel on the way. It was a case of justifying that out-going for me as well, and initially a lot of people I like were going on this trip. They've gradually dropped out, and other people are there in their place. I've known Jon Granger for f**king ages and wanted to hang out with him again having not seen him for ages, I've known Charlie for quite a while and haven't got to chat to him as much as I'd like to, and the same goes for quite a few other people who aren't going any more (and a few who are). We all think along the same lines, like to ride the same sort of stuff and are a similar age and can therefore relate to more things. My first post today was a nod towards that, but also a fairly direct point that people who have openly talked shit on 24 videos before probably aren't really going to be that into riding the stuff I'd like to ride, and might not be the sort of people I'd want to spend an extended period of time on. On trips people always end up rubbing each other the wrong way by the end of the trip purely from the "I've been in the same place as you for weeks now, raaargh" side of things. At the end, with people you know and which you can joke with about it afterwards that's cool. With people you know you don't like from the start, I can't really see it being quite the same.
