Mtchell
Hi Alately I,ve been thinking of taking part in the trials competions, but i,m not sure what class and and where to start really. I,m 22 and been riding a year and half or so, I don,t want to be entering a competion class which is too hard or easy, or being a major age gap. Any advice would be great Thanks
Alex Dark
Probably Novice or Intermediate if you've been riding a year and a half

isitafox
Best bet would be to get to one near home and see whats what. I might try an catch a few when the footy seasons over for a bit of fun!
Krisboats
Intermediate... Novice is like 10-11 year olds, intermediate is like 15/16/17 etc. Thats not true at all, the past and only two times i've competed i rode in blue. I'm 23 and i wasn't the oldest in that class at all. You're picking based on your riding ability, not your age. There's no point entering a red route (one above inter) if you can't do it. You have to remember that although you could probably do the red route moves in single goes, you'll be having to do them after a day of riding and you'll have to keep at that level all the way through the section. Then there's time limits to think about and people watching and not being able to dab. While i'm able to do the majority of red route sections on my own, i found that the added pressures made them impossible to get through without failing each section. If you do go to one though you can try 3 sections of whatever route first then change if it's too easy/difficult. Even in expert a lot of older riders get trounced by young'uns. Mowgli
comps are great, good atmosphere, meet so many more riders, makes it obvious what techniques you need to work on. overall a good day out.
