I heard at the time that the red phase 1.2 was better value (couldnt afford it at time though) but from what I can see now (Knowing a bit about trials) You could probably buy all of the upgrades that come with the 1.2 for the extra £140; from a description I just read the things your paying extra for on the 1.2 are the hs33's and the maxxis tyres. So I would say its all down to whatever colour you prefer and if you would rather choose your own upgrades. Hope that helped! Edit: Ah just thought of something... You don't get the magura mounts on the 1.3 and thats the only real benefit of the 1.2 I can see. Edited April 13, 2010 by Olicf

With the extra money I would look at upgrading the rear brake first getting some good vees (Avid sd7's give brilliant performance/money) and also get some sd7 levers because the stock tektros feel like shite. I find the front disk fine for trials after it has been bedded in but you might want to look at an avid bb7 setup if your not convinced. If your learning would defo recommend upgrading to some good platform pedals because the stock caged are never that pleasant to wack your leg into (as I have managed many times) And then you will probably want to get rid of the gears and buy some sprockets and something to tension your chain with. Good luck with your new phase Edited April 13, 2010 by Olicf

Good luck with your new phase Hey mate try www.tartybikes.com they will have everything to make your bike perfect but if you've got £350 to spend why dont you get a second hand bike? BUT i do think that you may be beter if you get a mod (20") instead of a stock (26") because i tried a stock to begin with ( I was 14 at 5 foot 2") and didn't progress ATALL!! in 4 months not even 5 rear wheel hops But 1 month ago i got a mod (20") and can rear wheel hop 25 easy, pedal kick, drop off and now learning to pedal kick higher but all that in 1 month but im 15 now at 5foot 6" Also if you go on tartybikes on the video gide to buying a bike adam says minium hight for a stock (26") is bout 5foot 6" so you will probably struggle with your phase but if you go mod i highly sugges an onza T-pro or something like that try ebay good luck mate. craigjames
You should be fine on a stock, it may be a little big, but then you're 14 and you could grow a lot in the next 6 months to a year. The phase should serve you fine, but as has been said, get a decent rear tyre, an Avid SD7 vee set up and some decent pads and switch it to single speed and you'll be sorted at a alter point you may want to change the rear hub/wheel. But first i'd get the brakes sorted and then go from there.

craigjames
Can i just say, i currently have a M.A.D Phase 1.2 for sale at the moment for £160 if your interested? You can but it would be classed as selling in NMC, so i wouldn't say it at all.

mr.tattoo
the mad1.2 has alloy forks too, my mates have both and the mad 1.2 is far better, but as said for that money get a decent used one with good parts as the mad 1.3 fall to bits if used properly.
