Luke Rainbird
Looks pretty smart to be honest. If you insist on running silly hydraulic rim brakes and these are likely to perform just as the others did but with easier bleeding (not that it was hard!), where's the issue?
Mark W
The '05 is going to be re-named the 'Classic' and will still be available, AFAIK. This one was never really planned to be a trials brake of any kind, really, it was just supposed to be easier to spec as an OEM brake for manufacturers, and give them more scope for customising the brakes for their own usage. As a result, you probably won't want to use it for trials, and you won't have to either.
Otacon
What has happend to magura since the 04' model ? really......
Mike Poyzer @ Onza
Having checked these out in Taipei we felt that the HS11 is going to be the most popular. They both now have plastic bodies and and the only difference between 33 and 11 was the finish but the price differential was still the same. The two bolt clamp is a major advance for us as cycle producers as we currently have to run UK and Continental specs. They are also having 2, 3 or 4 finger levers. There was no mention there of maintaining the old version.
davey1991
The split clamp should be law, its such a time saver, also i quite like the look of both of the leavers, although being made of plastic does worry me a little. Only time will tell.

Gandalf the Yellow
mechanically (or hydraulically) the same with HS11 and HS33? lever looks bulkier though?? also, i'd like the point out that the HS33 was not originally designed for trials, when it came out it just happened to be the most popular and riders have to use it, these brakes are well popular amongst xc riders and some commuters, which i'm sure share a bigger proportion in the bike world over trials riders, which means magura probably won't listen to a bunch of boys moaning about their lever snapping etc. the split clamp is a great design. what needs improvement over current model is JUST that, and maybe CNC the lever body so its stiffer and lighter (and to match the hope ), and maybe somehow make the slave cylinder grooves (where the ring sits) smaller for finer adjustments. steve
The Dark Knight
The only thing thats good about these is the 2 bolt clamp.

mike425
Ive never understood why maguras disc brakes are so pimp but the rim brakes are pretty dull. I was hoping when I saw this topic title to see a fully updated rim version along the lines of the marta!
Greetings
surely trials makes up the majority of the magura users? I'd be very surprised if it was more than 2-3%.
Sam Moss
Not too keen on that lever. Is it out yet? "Magura is relasing an updated version of the HS11 and the HS33 in September 2010." read the first post properly
AdamR28
We've been told by Magura that they may make a trials specific lever for the brake (so we don't have to use that ugly one, wooo). We're trying to get a sample to test, will let you all know how we get on...

Mike Poyzer @ Onza
I just had it straight from the horses mouth. The new HS11 and HS33 are in stock as of the Eurobike Show (end of August) and will replace the current models. They expect to have minimal residual stock of existing model at that stage and are adamant that the existing model is finished. There are no plans whatsoever for a special trials version. Any further orders of our 2010 models yet to be manufactured, which have Maguras, and any new 2011 models, will carry the new brakes. It is my opinion that HS11 will become by far the most popular as the only difference is in finish even though there is still a big price difference.. Tom Canham
Yeah the new leaver looks pretty ugly. I think ill stick to the 05+ model.
Mark W
The new levers look really good in the flesh. Definitely a better actual brake than previously - got some great features on there that I'm sure Adam will explain in a bit!
AdamR28
For sure, it's actually looking quite promising! Must admit we were skeptical after just seeing photos, but the functionality of this brake is really good. Got some photos and will put more info up later... super busy at the mo.
