stunt man t
hi everyone I forgot to buy rim tape when ordering my wheels so i thought id use sellotape instead but im strugling to fit it properly because when i wrap it round the rim it folds over and i have to wrap it 2 or 3 times and it look horrible through the holes on the rim, which is not like ive seen them on other bikes which have it done http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/images/bikes26/large_project10.jpg does anybody have any tips i can use to get it looking as good as those on tartys bike thanks Edited April 2, 2010 by stunt man t

PeanuckleJive
rather use sellotape though because its lighter are you joking?! No seriously, you actually think the difference between insulating tape and sellotape wrapped a few times round a wheel will be measureable? if insulating tape is indeed heavier, the difference per wheel will probably be about a gram.... get somebody to hold the wheel like a pair of forks then? Simpson
Do the 1st layer so that the sticky is face up, and then just cover that with a 2nd layer face down, make sure you hold it tight all the way, DONE

Ben John-Hynes
If it's not wide enough do 2 layers, overlapping them enough so the tube doesn't separate them. Or just buy some rim tape? Edited April 2, 2010 by Ben John-Hynes
